According to the Record, Dani has injured his left knee and will miss the next 4 weeks of training for Ajax. Team doctors will decide within the next few days whether surgery will be necessary or not.

I've got to think that JVA had this acquisition in mind when he sold Nuno Gomes to Fio. Is Dani now "damaged goods"? The price may be cheaper for Benfica now, but will Dani be able to contribute this season? Will he be worth it once he comes back?

What do you guys think?

PS - apparently, the Nuno Gomes transfer wasn't a total disaster: JVA got Fio to promise to come to Lisboa for next years' presentation match

...if it's just a temporary injury say 2 months I'd say he's worth the gamble as long as he comes for less money. Like Benfica4eva said if his mind is into it, he'll be just fine.

in that case it's just common sense to wait until he's recovered and proved his fitness. To get a discount on a player because he's injured must mean it's serious.
