FC Internazionale Milano - the World's Club Team of the Month for January 2005

The national cup competitions in the strongest European leagues as well as the deletion of the points from January 2004 had a great effect on the top part of the Club World Ranking. The early elimination of teams such as Barcelona, Valencia, Real Madrid, and Juventus of Turin etc. from their national cup competition has affected them in the Club World Ranking. The South Americans, who had a long break in January, took advantage of this fact and so Boca Juniors is the leader of the Club World Ranking for the 6th time.

The English have four teams in the "Top 11" and the trio "ManU", Arsenal and Chelsea could still progress further. The Monegasques, who take 3rd place 3 were also impressive. "Roma" improved from 118th to 80th place, while Sampdoria Genova moved from 253rd to 163rd place.

The World's Club Team for the Month of January is FC Internazionale Milano ahead of Club Brugge KV. The Milanese achieved the highest number of points worldwide and remained unbeaten in the Serie A and "Coppa Italia" in January. "Inter" is unbeaten in 21 league matches.

In the "Top 100" there are clubs from 35 countries: 29 clubs from the CONMEBOL, two from the CONCACAF, four from the CAF, two from the AFC and 63 from the UEFA. The following leagues are represented by the most clubs in the "Top 100": Brazil (11), France (9), Spain (8), England (6), Italy (6), Argentine (5), Germany (5) an the Netherlands (4). The "Top ten" of each of the four football continents South America, Africa, Asia and CONCACAF are as follow:
