Iniesta's future?

I don't know if it's me, but looking at how he plays, he seems to have no confidence whatsoever.

Personally, I think he should be loaned to another Spanish club next season, providing we get cover in that position (Van Bommel comes to mind). If Van Bommel does come, then it means that Andrés will have a very small chance of winning a first team spot.

Putting him on the wing one week and then playing him in central midfield in the next is not healthy for any footballer. I think the guy has bags of talent, but he must be utilised correctly and I feel that he isn't developing at all in his bit-part role at Barcelona. The guy needs games to get his confidence back and sitting on the bench isn't going to help him at all. I think sending him on loan to a decent La Liga outfit would do him plenty of good. I could see him being a success like Riquelme has been at Villarreal.

What do you guys think? I've added a poll to spice things up.

Iniesta MUST stay. Period.

He's a midfielder, but his place has been covered by Xavi and Deco. But he still managed to play all the matches, in the lineup or from the bench, even out of position (right wing for example). He has been a great #12 player and I don't rate him much lower than Xavi. Actually, I think that Iniesta has more potential than Xavi. He must stay and fight for a place... and he'll triumph, soon or later.
What if we get another injury crisis? Iniesta must stay. Though I agree, he seems to have no confidence.
yup K4... I voted for option 1 also...
we definately need him if we will play for all competitions next year..
Iniesta is a young player, he's still under 21, and still have too much to learn
can't say he have a plenty of confidence, yet he's still young playing in a big team, and knows a lot of fans wanting too much out of him, sooner or later

I'd rather see him stay, and fight for a place in the team, than loaning him, we still have to fight for all compititions next season, don't want us to be short of players, if anything happen like this season.

this season gave us a lesson about how things go wrong in the matter of injuries.

so choise 1 is my choise :)

Visca el Barca :strong:
He must stay. No loans. I´m totally sure about this question.
He just needs to get stronger..Maradona had those great hips to pivot off, Iniesta needs to develop his body a bit more.

When he does, he'll be nigh on unstoppable, he's a fine talent.
He's very versatile and we're going to need him at one point or another. I wish we have the luxury to be able to loan him out, but that's not the case.

That's right to say he must be utilised correctly, and you could say that about a few of the players in the team.
It's just that sometimes Rijkaard does'nt use the guys in their best positions because he refuses to be flexible with this system he always sticks with! That costs us in the big games! :moan:

Anyway, I don't know what's with all the bashing of our own players just now. First Guily is no use, now Iniesta is no use!
Come on, all these guys are good players, that is why they are at Barcelona! :proud:
its funny that some people cannot see his talent!! you guys think it's easy to just waltz around defenders? you think its easy to keep your balance and just penetrate defenses like he does? he's a GENIUS. everytime i'm watching i ask myself why the hell doesnt he start... he puts the midfield into motion!!

he should start, everygame.... never loaned out!!

he should work on his finishing and build a tougher physique.

but he's already done the hard part... and has the rare qualitites
Alot of people dont recognize what Iniesta does when he comes instead of Giuly sometimes. I am sure alot of people would be giving him more recognition if he scored all his shots which hit the post or the cross bar. He is really not lucky, he needs to clinch his chances and try to earn a place in the first team. I am sure we have to keep him in our team for alot of years to come.
When Iniesta starts scoring goals, he can be in the line-up, imo!
I disagree,

Iniesta need regular playing in La Liga. A loan will be OK for him. Getafe, Albacete, Levante, I don't know.

He's now, between a good and a superb player. Let him show his class in a regular way.

Next year will be players recovered from injuries and less minutes to share. Loan him, it will be great for his development.

Remember Cruyff philosophy about loans: Ferrer, Òscar, etc.
If we get all the injured guys back, and bring in a couple of players, next season we could afford to loan him out for a season. Long term it would be better for both sides. Particularly if he works on his shooting, which is a ridiculously weak point. If he managed over a couple of years to bring his scoring up to the level of a Deco, he would be a truly exceptional player.

Come on, you know I'm not bashing Iniesta ;)

Of course, if we do have the same squad as his season, which is very unlikely, then it's obvious that Iniesta will be a necessary member of the team.

But with Van Bommel on the verge of signing and with Motta returning, I don't see where Iniesta will fit next season. I think he's a great player, but he's too good to be a #12 player in my opinion. I've seen that when this guy has confidence, he is a magician, but when he hasn't got it, then he looks clueless at times. In my opinion, using him as a bit part player isn't going to help him at all.

Guardiola and Xavi played a consistent amount of games before they turned into excellent players. I just hope Iniesta gets the same treatment.

Seconded. He needs regular first time action to develope into a worldclass playmaker. Perhaps he'll turn out like Riquelme, but younger, better and more communitarian. And make sure you get a deal with him not allowed to face us.. :smileani:
I'd like to see him stay, but I don't think we "need" him to stay. Depends on our squad for next season. I wouldn't cringe at a loan (I think it'd do him good actually), but I'm hoping he has a very bright future with us.
