Real Madrid's German keeper Bodo
Illgner insists he wants to stay on at the club next season and
fight for a place with teenaged sensation Iker Casillas.
Illgner lost his hold on the goalkeeper's jersey after an
injury let in Casillas, whose superb displays helped Real to
their eighth European Cup win and secured him a place in Spain's
Euro 2000 squad.
There has been strong speculation in Spain that Illgner, the
former German international, would move away from the Bernabeu
before the start of next season but he said on Tuesday, "The
newspapers aren't going to sign anyone.
"I was out for four months with an injury and there was no
need to change the team with Casillas playing so well.
"But if I'm fit next season I'm sure I'll play. In any case,
the club need cover for every position."

Is he serious guys? ;)

Wasn't he going to retire anyway? What? Now that Iker's the man, he has to prove something?

I know his wife, aka his agent, wanted him to retire...
