This has just made my day. Why? Because the team has been overhyped to nonsensical levels. England are at best an average team and yet they have been churning out nonsense about win ning the World Cup.

Even with ten men, Brazil still taught themn a lesson or two about football. England have no creativity going forward and most of their players are just average. Bechkam Owen and Ferdinand are the only ones with a bit of quality and the former two have done jack shoit in this world cup.

I think England were just lucky to get out of our group. Like Sweden, she just had lady luck on her side. Argentina and Nigeria were by far the two best teams in the group. This European arrogance has been dealt a severe blow and I am glad the likes of Brazil, Senegal and Korea are denting this colonial and arrogant image. The only sad thing is that Argentine's, especially many on this fporum, fell for the garbage, hook, line and sinker.

I mean is England, Sweden, Denmark or Portugal better than any of the African, Central American or Latin Americamn teams we have seen? Indeed, I would argue that teams like this only get to the World Cup because of the number of places Europe has. Can you ever see Sweden qualifying for the World Cup were it an African nation?

Totally agree with you man!! The English team can't even string two passes together, and their only asset is the Beckham trademark of long balls. I am happy that Brazil won: it's a win for football the way it should be played!!

No more hype, no more kick and rush. 'ts only good for the remainder of this WC.

Seaman Spill adds to England Embarassment
I now know with confidence that Argentina would have easily hammered England had they played outdoors in midday.. Early on England gave Brazil no time at all and looked good. But then no one can play that can of chasing football in the heat.. By the 2nd half even with a man up they could not play that fast no more. Scholes and Butt really slowed.
The FIFA conspiracy thread may be right.. Why was the Arg-Eng game played indoors in an airconditioned dome?
Actually both Brazil and England looked bad. Germany plays horrible soccer and its ironic that they looked far worse than the teams the US beat.

No lame excuses please

Philander, stop making lame excuses. Argentina's problem was that she coulod not put the ball in the back of the net. No matter when or where the game is played, if you cannot do that, you are not going to win games.

I just hope the new coach adopts a more conventional 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 formation and in 2006 Crespo and whoever is with him deliever the goods upfront.

Yes I agree, its a happenstance that in this tournament, the strikers were mis-firing. My comment on the airconditioned dome is simply to try and rationalize why England could not apply the high pressure game to Brazil for the entire 90 mins whereas they did so to Argentina's 11. I won't admit that Brazil is superior, so thats a rational observation.
