I'm impressed so far, especially with Debreceni, Sztojka, Kovács. Our goalie plays at Juve, where else. We have so many amazing goalkeepers.

2-1 FT. We got this. We have no Ronaldinhos but Sztojka is arguably the best. Tímár's strategy looks a bit like Preisinger's 2 years back: a balance between defence and attack, hard pressing throughout the game, 100% discipline. That's what you want to see on a tight match like this.

Benczenleitner was decent too. He made two serious passing errors but other than that he took chances and created a lot. Morts would like this team a lot.

Even the subs like Redzic and Kerezsi created a lot. We conceded then continued to attack and press the opponent. Lovely stuff, it's like we're Spain! Obviously I'm exaggerating but I'll be sure to watch the Austria game too. Hopefully we can snatch first place in order to get that first seed spot.

They're doing what our youth NTs do now and then, give us false hope. Don't be fooled! That being said, I hope they continue it for awhile:)

Gera's U21s tied 2-2 vs Poland. Németh András with the dupla..

MAGYARORSZÁG:    Hegyi – Varju, Mocsi, Csóka, Kerkez (Komáromi, 82.) – Baráth P., Csonka (Major, 67.) – Bukta (Kiss T., 87.), Skribek (Bárány, 82.), Szendrei – Németh A. Szövetségi edző:   Gera Zoltán

LENGYELORSZÁG:    Majchrowicz – Bejger, Nawrocki, Kiwior (Gruszkowski, 76.), Karbownik – Kaminski, Bogusz (Wedrychowski, 71.), Poreba – Skóras, Benedyczak (Szymczak, 71.), Marchwinski (Szelagowski, 90+6.). Szövetségi edző:   Maciej Stolarczyk

Gólszerző:     Németh A. (1–0 ) a 48., Benedyczak (11-esből,    1–1) a 60., Wedrychowski (1–2) a 81., Németh A. (2–2) a 90+5. percben

Kiállítva:     Major (90+2.), ill. Skóras (90.)

MESTERMÉRLEG

Gera Zoltán:
– Sajnálom, hogy a mérkőzés vége hektikusra sikerült, de talán jobb a döntetlen, mintha vereséget szenvedtünk volna. A szünetben átbeszéltük a problémákat, és megszereztük a vezetést is. A lengyelek fordítottak, mert túlságosan mélyen védekeztünk, és bár játékosaim elfáradtak a végére, dicséretes a pontszerzés.

yeah and they already axe him if he will be Szalai‘s utodja when he hasn‘t played a minute felnött foci at Genk yet

I don't even follow Gera's team. Gera is not even decent in terms of coaching skills (as of now). Tímár on the other hand!

I just don't see a szövkap change as being beneficial at this point

All of our teams should be capable of disciplined defending, pressing the opponent, avoid big labdaeladások etc. U21 Euro proved Gera can't even achieve that.

yeah but both Rosszi as well as Dzsíra can only pick from the anyag that's there. and that's not really a huge pool of nemzetközileg jegyzett klassz players :( now bringing in another Leekens/Storck/Timár/Szabics/Whoever won't change that....

and the defending isn't really our biggest problem at this point. lack of creativity in midfield is. and total lack of a lethal scorer upfront, fx someone like Lewandowski or the likes.

In U tizenkilenc NB3 and NB2 players compete against folks from Dinamo Moscow, Belarus NB1, Salzburg, Admira, Austria Wien and yet they manage to create a reasonable amount of chances. Our best fella is a Vasas benchwarmer for pete's sake!

Right. Course only cuz we're so gyenge with such a shallow talent pool to choose from. Doesn't look like Balogh Norbinho is it, so we move down the line.

Right, what has become abundantly clear is that the best players Hungary develops don't even match up to the standards of Albania, Austria, Wales. Mediocre countries that still manage to bring top talents to Man. Utd, Arsenal, Bayern.

With the current senior NT squad we should be able to snatch good results but we still can't, only on actual tournaments (and sometimes not even then). The best example for a badly functioning academy is Áron's favourite go-to one, Ferencváros. Their best and latest örökígéret is Damir Redzic (18) who still plays at Soroksár and in the U19 NT. At 18 he should be at least a vital part of the senior Ferencváros team and the senior NT.

So basically we are all coughed, coach or no coach.

Why was Preisinger let go btw? He did some good with his utánpótláscsapat.

Anyway, at least we have something to talk about. We are becoming something like Romania, not even that because they have more talents. I fear even the U19s will get kicked in the ass in the Elite Round, especially if they don't beat Austria tomorrow and get that much needed first seed position.

Btw the U17 team is qualifying too in a few weeks. They have an easier group, the main rival should be Iceland.

Yesterday I watched back the Estonia game. U19 didn't play well but they still delivered. Tímár responded quickly with changes at half-time and in the ~55th, ~65th minutes. Kerezsi, Benczenleitner, and of course Sztojka impressed again.

They didn't do anything special this time either, just tried to press Estonia deep in their half. Obviously the brilliance from Sztojka was much needed in the end, at least we have that. After the 2-0 lead he picked up a completely unnecessary yellow, hopefully he won't do the same against Austria or else we start the elite round without him.

Our weakness in this age group seems to be RB position. Szujó made some big mistakes against Belarus, after that Török started against Estonia and he didn't seem to be solid either. He also picked up a knock, so most likely Szujó has to start tomorrow.

Our kapus, oh man, that's another story entirely. He intimidates every opponent right when the players walk out to the pitch.
