Looking to make it 5 games unbeaten, has the bubble burst at Huddersfield?

Hopefully Will is ok, but it would be nice to see young Jamie get a game. Perhaps it will give Butterfield more license to play further forward, we could do with him
Finding his scoring boots again.

Missed the opening 20 mins, no idea what's happened but it's 0-0

Lost it in injury time, we are doing nothing going forward at the moment.

I guess we shouldn't be asking 'will Burton stay up?" but rather 'will Derby stay up?" :D
We look like relegation fodder at the moment.

It was just a moment of indiscipline in the positioning department, apparently. Even the best teams are guilty of it from time to time. All I saw was the goal, on television. Those who follow Derby more closely than I do will know whether systems, tactics or selections were involved too.

It's the third away game in arow that the exact same thing has happened. That's the problem. I was expecting it. It starts from having been comfortable for 80 minutes, we then start retreating further and further back to the point were almost camped in the last third of our own half trying to hang on. There was no need for it.

Huddersfield offered nothing but long range pot shots until the last 10 minutes, and if one team looked more likely to get a goal it was us.

It all boils down to what I've been banging on about for the last 3 years. We lack leadership all over the pitch.

The captain should provide leadership when it's required. What you say reflects badly on Keogh. McClaren too must have known that they were defending unnecessarily deep, but if there's any truth in Ancelotti's view that a coach can do little to influence a game that's in progress, backing off is an issue that needs plenty of attention in training prior to a game. Because McClaren hasn't been there long, he may not know that it's a long-standing problem, but Keogh should. Or perhaps your "We lack leadership all over the pitch" implies that you think there should be several leaders among the eleven players on the pitch (?)

At Burton, John Mousinho is club captain. He didn't play on Friday. Whoever the captain for the evening was, there didn't seem to be a player dishing out instructions - and yet positioning didn't appear to be an issue. Perhaps there's no need for "leadership" on the pitch if the players go into the game with instructions on how deep to defend, and put the instructions into effect.

Keogh is a source of many arguments among Derby fans, even more than Ince you seem to love him or hate him.

Personally he is too rash on his own decision making to be making them for others. He has the passion and can do the rallying calls, but this is where I do believe you need more than one leader. First time under McClaren we had John Eustace in midfield who was the organiser. George Thorne was to be his replacement but obviously injuries have been disastrous. Thorne seemed to be growing into that organiser role last season, and could be the answer if he can stay fit.

It has been noticeable when IV watched and listened to games on the radio, especially this season how often we have players at few kicks, corners and throw ins holding there arms out looking confused what to do, almost like there is no plan whatsoever, obviously McClaren needs time to work on that. But it's also where you need players to take responsibility and we don't seem to have any who want to do that.

Looks like a "hate", then.

Hah I don't hate him, I do wish he'd bugger off and we'd find a new centre half though :D

I've just discovered that Keogh was suffering with an injury when Huddersfield scored, one that he'd picked up a few minutes earlier - so perhaps we shouldn't be too critical of the Derby defence. Somehow I had him down as a right back. Maybe he played in that position at the Pirelli.

No, he's played centre half every game this season and for 99% of his derby career, he has played right back a couple of times.

We had a substitute left when he picked up his knock, if it was that bad he should have come off-

We certainly need to sort these late goals out, it's so frustrating. I like Keogh. He makes mistakes but he's always willing to get on the ball and never says away from anything.

That's a fair point about Keogh. I do like he likes to play out from the back. But I do just think in the Championship you are better off with a great big lump who just heads it and kicks it. Sol Bamba would have been a useful addition to us.
