I'm starting a comparison between players of the supposed top 3 teams in England (Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd). On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest), rate each and every first-team player of these three teams.

I know that this topic is quite controversial but please no personal attacks or bias in this thread. :nono:

By the way just to let you know I am talking ability here meaning how much ability a player has at the moment and that does not include his potential. Nor does it include how well he was in the past. It is also hard to judge players who have just come back from injury or are still injured, thus you are allowed to estimate how well that player will be when he comes back.

Wait a minute Marc, what is your reasoning behind giving Carvalho only a 7, the same number you placed with Glen Johnson? Surely the former is at least an 8, from what I have seen. He's one of the top defenders in the world; better than Campbell for that matter.

Do the high and low seven thing. Glen has done some important work that hasn't been noticed. Like his throw in the carling cup final, his assist to win an important game over christmas, his ball to Drogba against Bayern and so on. And apparently Carvalho commits fouls in the box according to you, ones that would/could cost the team (Glen just falls over, hehe). He has been injured a lot as well so its hard to rate him high. I think Gallas has been much better but I can't bring myself to give him a nine... sooo.

As for being better than Campbell, no.

Well, I cannot concur with that. Carvalho has been just as good as Gallas IMO, if not better. And obviously I don't rate Campbell that much because he's a one-dimensional stopper. He doesn't touch Carvalho when it comes to tackling and decision making.

Bit generous to Pongolle, Finnan and Traore and arguably kind to the keepers and harsh on Hyypia. Maybe 10s are a bit generous to the two classy players but I'm not convinced worthy of 10s. Not far out though, I suppose you could make a case for any of those ratings. Better than a manc review of their team but then what else is new
