What do you guys think of Clarence Seedorf? How highly do you rate him? After all he is the only player in history who have won the Champions League three times with three different clubs (Ajax, Real Madrid and Milan). When he retires will he be ranked as one of the best midfielder ever? Discuss.

What he has done is achieve a feat. He is a supremely talented midfielder with skill and ability. He lacks in concentration and focus from time to time. He plays better if he is given the time to get out of his bad patch and he knows that he is the preferred starter. Seedorf alone will not lead a team like a Zidane. If he has someone who can support him then he will flourish and can act as a leader as well. He has Pirlo in Milan and others so he has done well since Inter gave him to us with Pirlo as excess baggage.

Seedorf is a fantastic midfield all-arounder who can pretty much do it all; create, tackle and score. One of the top 20 midfielders in the world I suppose.

Sometimes Seedorf is kind of lazy and inconsistent vs small teams.
But he is a big game player, usually plays great vs top teams.

He scored 2 long distance goals against Juve while at Inter.
He scored 2 goals against Juve in the 3-1 away win last season.
He scored a wonderful cracker, the winning goal vs Inter last season in the famouse 3-2 game. He also created the first goal with a powerful shot.
He assisted the goal ( scored by Sheva) against Inter, which eliminated them, in 2002/2003 CL semifinal.
He assisted the first goal ( scored by Sheva) away against Roma in the 2-1 win last season.
His powerful shot caused Carroll's mistake and help Milan win 1-0 against ManUtd.

There are many more but I won't bother listing them.

Anyway, a great midfielder, great ball control ( probably the best ball control in this Milan team), good passing ability, good vision, top class long distance shot, can do defense work too. Only little cons: a bit slow, sometimes hold on the ball a bit much and slow down counter speed. We must thank Inter for giving him for free. Where is Coco now btw?

Why is Seedorf dropped by the Dutch NT recently? Anyone knows?
Mainly because of his attitude, at least that's what the press says. San Marco hasn't really said much about it. The only thing he said was that in our current system he prefers van Bommel, Landzaat or Sneijder at the rm position, and at lm Cocu, Davids or van der Vaart.

who knows what the reasons are with them?

there's no doubt Seedorf has the quality to be in their side (or just about any other country's) :star:

sometimes it's not just about technical or tactical reasons. just remember the Dutch have even "dropped" Gullit in the past :wth:

He is a very good player.
But in the Dutch NT he often did not play well.
He didn't do his defensive work and walked out of position all the time.
The main reason is his attitude, he always had remarks on the coach tactics.

Even though he is a worldclass player... never let him take a penalty! :D
