Liverpool have prepared a lucrative new £6 million contract for Gerard Houllier as reward for reviving the club's fortunes.
The new package is thought to be around £1 million a year and will make the Frenchman the best paid manager in Liverpool's history and among the highest earners in the British game.
Initial talks with Houllier have started and officials hope to conclude the discussions when chairman David Moores recovers from the illness which has prevented him from attending recent board meetings.
The Reds boss has transformed the club's fortunes since taking over from managerial partner Roy Evans 16 months ago and guided Liverpool to the brink of qualifying for next season's Champions' League.
In the process he has gained a legion of admirers, including Sir Alex Ferguson, and even though there are still three years to run on his contract, Reds bosses are keen for him to double his stay.
Vice-chairman Peter Robinson is due to retire at the end of the season after 35 years service at Anfield and Houllier has been unsettled by this news, so the board have acted quickly to bring forward the offer of a new deal, particularly as the manager has been the subject of several inquiries from leading clubs in Italy and France.

Hmm....could be another trashtalk.com headline or a serius story? if its serius, its worng....Gerard houllier has made Liverpool a team but he they should offer him this kind of money only when we make a serius run for the championship...

The sun will rise again...and it will be...GIALLOBLU!
