Do you guys think Heynckes will stay or go? Per the Record & benficacentral.com (what a site! :)), he said that if Paulo Bento comes to Benfica, he's gone.

You thoughts?

Why? What does he have against Paulo Bento? Is this a power struggle between the coach and management of the club? If Heynckes feels he should handle the recruiting and business side of the club along with the coaching, then he should go. His job is to train players and to motivate them to win. I think he should be able to provide input on what players the team gets, but not make the final decisions. Benfica gave that kind of power to Souness and look what happened...

I hope he doesn't go because he seems to be a good coach. He gave back Benfica good playing, although they had pretty bad games. I remember when Benfica was still on top everybody loved him and were surprised with what he had achieved. And now?...

He already had some problems with the players' purchase, when he wanted a striker to replace Rushfelt, there was no money - but he stayed.
If he goes because of Paulo Bento, then he probably doesn't want to stay in Benfica. I mean, no one can force him to use the player - right?

I hate people like that!!! He sounds like a 5 yr old kid. I think P.Bento will be good for our team. Heynckes has bought something like 5 players and the one he only uses is Sabry, He has the greek defender and always leaves him out. All i have to say is **** OFF HEYNCKES.

I don't think he should go due to the results this season - I think it's possible that Heynckes IS using this as an excuse to leave Benfica. Game Rod's right - even if Paulo Bento comes, Heynckes doesn't HAVE to use him, so I think that's not the real issue. Then again, Heynckes might just be ticked off that they can't use the money somewhere else.

We'll see...

This morning in the press conference Heynckes said that he wanted to have Benfica playing better next year. To achieve that, he said that the club managers should give him the appropriate conditions, 'cause he wouldn't be here to coach a weak team.

I suppose he's mailny demanding Benfica managers to give him the right players (the players he thinks are best) for the next season, otherwise he's gone.

I wonder if JVA will do that for him?
