Interesting read from Champions magazine:

"It's taken time for Crespo to find his feet at Milan, but that wasn't unexpected. Things weren't easy when he arrived at Parma from River Plate in 1996; nor did he start well following his £40million transfer to Lazio. He was quicker off the blocks at Inter, but then came Chelsea. Yet statistics suggest Crespo's spell at Stamford Bridge was more successful than many remember: despite injury and problems settling, he scored ten goals in 19 games. His CV remains impressive: at the time of Milan's win over United, Crespo had scored 116 goals in 182 Serie A games. He has netted 29 in 60 European club matches and 36 in 50 internationals. And he has been on the scoresheet in Champions League games for Parma, Lazio, Inter, Chelsea and Milan."

So why all the stick over his carreer?

he was good at Chavski but kept getting injured at bad times.

btw, his goal against Arsenal was a blatant act of cheating that should be struck from his record. :D

The funny thing is that noone even mentionated him in the thread of the best 10 strikers in the world, specially with his fabulous present in Milan.

He is very good and his goal record proves it.

Crespo is worthless unless you give him the ball in front of goal softly and spot on his right foot. If you ask himn to do a little more he will miss misserably.

You're a [SNIP] He has some brilliant off ball movement, and a great header as he proved against the mancs.

Who do you support anyway? Man Utd? :dielaugh:

Why not? Doesn't he average a goal every other game for Argentina which is pretty close to Batigol's goal ratio.

Good? At Chelsea, he scored 10 league goals, as follows:

2 against relegated Wolves in a game which was already won by the time he scored. (Chelsea won 5-0)
1 match winning goal at Middlesbrough (Final score 2-1 to Chelsea)
1 against Arsenal at Highbury (though Chelsea lost 2-1)
1 in a 5-0 thrashing of Newcastle
1 against Bolton (Chelsea lost 2-1)
1 against Fulham (Final score 1-0 to Chelsea)
1 against Portsmouth (Final score 2-0 to Chelsea)
2 against Villa (Chelsea lost 3-2, his 2nd being a consolation goal)

Apart from the 2 blowout games, his goals really mattered in just 3 games :D and he was playing in a team with a supply line of Lampard, Duff, Joe Cole, Veron and co :lala:

Having said that, I'm not complaining about his performances at Milan though

Yeah, strikers are a dime a dozen in football. We could get some guy off the street to plunk themselves in front of goal and do what they do. :rollani:

Although Crespo scored a pretty nice header recently, one that was worth a couple of million to Milan (I think that's about what teams get for advancing to the QFs of the CL). That goal was worth his salary, or would have been if Chelsea weren't paying most of it. :D

well he scored goals, whether they were important or not is immaterial, there are many factors in that, you do turn round and blame the bloke who put the ball in the net because they weren'tt important.
