EGYPTIAN international Hossam Hassan will become the most capped player in the world when he steps out for his nation's friendly match against the Zambia.
Hassan will overtake Lothar Matthaus' record of 150 caps, after playing his first game for the African nation 15 years ago - a 3-0 loss against Norway.

The Egyptian forward is still two games away from this target however, but has been declared a certainty for the forthcoming friendly against UAE and then Zambia in the coming week - with both games being played in Cairo.

Matthaus, who retired from international football in the summer after Germany's miserable Euro 2000 campaign, has therefore only held his record for less than six months, and Hassan could go on to put more distance between himself and the veteran midfielder in the coming months.
