I just happened to be checking out the U.S. roster and noticed that Brian McBride turns 30 today (6/19).

I dimly remember that long ago day in my life, but I'm sure it has much more meaning for an elite athlete like McBride. This is probably his last World Cup considering all of the up-and-coming talent so no doubt this is a bittersweet birthday for him.

  HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN!

30 years old. The age at which you start to lose 1/2 a step. It's made up for in endurance and being absolutely tough as nails.

KICK ASS BRIAN!

Hah! 30. The Detroit Red Wings just won the Stanley Cup with a roster that averaged almost 30. Igor Larianov scored the game winner in a triple overtime game. He's 41, the oldest guy in the league. Don't sell Brian short. At 34 he could be in his prime.

A nice driving header like his one against Portugal would be a nice present. I always get myself the best presents.
