1.4.04 - Guatemala and Mexico posted victories over El Salvador (3:0) and Costa Rica (2:0), respectively, in friendlies played on Wednesday evening.

Freddy García opened the scoring for the visiting chapines in the 21st minute in the encounter played at the Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador, El Salvador on Wednesday. Seven minutes later, Carlos Figueroa scored to increase Guatemala’s lead to 2:0 over El Salvador.

Gonzalo Romero closed out the scoring in the 90th minute to give the chapines their first victory under newly appointed technical director Ramón Maradiaga.

First half goals by Rafael Garcia (12th) and Diego Martinez (42nd) paced the tricolor to a 2:0 win over the ticos in a friendly played at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California USA.

Mexico will continue their preparations for the 2006 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers as they meet the USA in Dallas, Texas on 28 April.
