Jose is the best coach in terms of resume to join Roma since Fabio Capello, the last coach to win a Scudetto with Roma. If Jose repeats that achievement it will be something. Doubt it would happen next season, reckon the target will be top 4 in his debut Roma season.

Like I said in another thread, it's a perfect fit. He seems to be exactly what Roma needs and, after the bad experiences Spurs and Man Utd, a team like Roma seems to be exactly what he needs.

Isco mentioned as well. Wonder how much Roma are willing to spend for Jose. If they get Icardi/Belotti, Isco, De Gea and Sanches that would be amazing but they would need to spend a ton.

Mourinho mural appears in Rome
Football Italia

Jose Mourinho's impending arrival in Rome has been celebrated by a mural depicting the incoming coach riding a Vespa appearing in the Testaccio neighbourhood of the Capital.

The mural was created by the street artist Harry Greb and represents the Special One driving the iconic Vespa.

Mourinho will make his return to Italy 11 years after leaving Inter. He has signed a three-year contract with Roma.

“I immediately understood the full extent of their ambitions for Roma,” the Special One said after his appointment on Monday.

“It is the same ambition and drive that has always motivated me and together, we want to build a winning project over the upcoming years.”

Tottenham will pay part of his salary in his first season in the Capital.

Moratti welcomes Mourinho back to Italy: 'He sent me a message'
Football Italia

Former Inter President Massimo Moratti said Jose Mourinho sent him a message before Roma announced his return to Serie A.

The Portuguese coach has stayed in touch with the former Nerazzurri patron after their successful time together at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Yesterday, Roma announced Mourinho as their new head coach from 2021-22 and the former Porto, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United coach has signed a three-year contract with La Lupa.

“Mourinho sent me a message,” Moratti revealed to Corriere della Sera. “Concrete as usual. Three words. No more were needed.

“He wrote: ‘See you soon’.”

Moratti said he’s happy for his former coach and confirmed they have kept in touch for the past 11 years.

“There’s esteem, I hope mutual,” Moratti continued. “For my part, undisputed. And I will confide to you that I’m happy for him.

“Very, very much. I told him and I’ll repeat it to him at the first opportunity. It’s a good project, a nice square, good fans, a great adventure for the ownership of Roma.

“Mourinho will do well. Or at least, there are the conditions for this to happen.”

Moratti said Mourinho’s adventure with Inter ‘is in the past’ but stressed the time with the 58-year-old is ‘uforgettable’.
“It’s in the past. Together with him, we won everything,” Moratti said. “The unforgettable seasons will remain, it’s superfluous to underline it.

“Italian football will have profound and lasting benefits from someone like Mourinho. His irony, his intelligence, his provocations, his media presence, his enormous professional skills…

“I really like Mou’s return. He amuses me. We needed it.”
