All things considered, Emilia Clarke's acting is top notch!

Also, in an earlier episode in winterfell when jamie asks to join them, she clearly wants to kill him and the division between her and snow/tyrion is visible...

You two are doing the same mistake: Daenerys have been always paranoid, violent and liked to burn stuff. That is not a problem. She always believed it was her fate to sit in the throne. However, she also always believed she would be a savior of the people. She never targeted peasants. The strange things is not her being violent, bitter and burning things, it is her burning the people she always believed would be saved by her. Paranoia towards Jon would explain her turning against Jon, not against King's Landing's population.

who can explain how soldiers lose their mind when they start to commit destruction ? daenerys was riding a WMD. you would know the moment she rocked into madness only if you were in her mind.

Ana was eating while watching new Star Wars movies and thinks it was Game of Thrones. :D

Mali, it is a narrative, so who can explain? The Author of course. It is his job after all.

JC, entering in the mind of a character in a narrative way would have made another kind of movie. you can do it with humbert in" lolita" with kubrick as director. even through i didn't get the impress what the book procured me.

If George Lucas can show what is in Luke Skywalker and Han Solo's minds, I am sure you can do the same without going Kubrick... in some other movie. Lolita is just not the best example of movie :D

He would have made her transition from hero to villain far better. That's a given.
Different mediums, so yes, GRRM would probably have fleshed out her motivations more. That's the advantage of writing from the character's POV.

This wasn't totally unexpected though, the show (albeit quite poorly at times) has built up to this moment from very early on. There are people who seriously think that this won't happen in the books because "George would never do that". It's just childish fanboyism at that point. I'm 99,9% certain that this was one of the key points that GRRM told D&D about.

The reasoning given by D&D is borderline retarded as usual though.

Burning down her ancestral home rather than taking it back seems weird if Benioff's take on her motivations is correct.

I'd rather say that the reason that Dany was butthurt and had a meltdown was because the people of King's Landing didn't celebrate her as the Messiah that she sees herself as. If they don't worship her as their saviour she might as well burn them and replace them with her loyal subjects.

"I don't think she decided ahead of time that she was going to do what she did. Then she sees the Red Keep, which is to her the home that her family built when they first came over to this country 300 years ago. It's in this moment on the walls of King's Landing where she's looking at that symbol of everything that was taken from her, when she makes the decision to make this personal."

Benioff offers some thoughts on the matter as well: "If circumstances had been different, I don't think this side of Dany ever would have come out. If Cersei hadn't betrayed her [in the agreement to fight the White Walkers], if Cersei hadn't executed Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), if Jon hadn't told her the truth… if any of these things happened in a different way, then I don't think we'd be seeing this side of Daenerys Targaryen."

I think she is a terrible actress. Most of the new actors/actresses in this show are pretty poor and unconvincing.
Agreed. While they have improved Kit and Emilia are nothing compared to Nikolaj(Jamie) and Lena(Cersei). Or even if we go back to the old actors Sean Bean, Charles Dance, Jon Pryce, Mark Addy and Aidan Gillen to name a few. That's acting.

Where do you want start? The star wars universe and timeline is HUGE. Hundred of races, thousand of planets and fifty thousand years of history. Of course Disney has kinda ruined deciding what is cannon and what is not. Obviously the difference is that there's been hundred of writers for SW and only 3 for GOT

Most of people do not exactly know what is going on in their own heads and pretend they know what can happen in someoneelse's head!

Let's not be pedantic, in interviews Bed&Breakfast have even explained what they tried to do with Dan Harris and to me it's fair enough.
