I'm sick of this team! Good news, Beretta, who had a good game against us last night, misses the game with a 1 match suspension.

Sure Nyuka ! ;) As long as we win I'll be happy but let's do it with style !...
If we can manage to score a couple of goals we could finish -we're currently 2nd in that department- Week 19 with the highest number of goals of the league (which hasn't happened to Juve for years now)...
You're gonna say what for... The symbol. For the symbol !

Del Piero 3 goals game-week 19
19 January 2002 10:28
Statistics show that if there is a game-week in which Alessandro Del Piero is hot, it is game-week 19. In 1995 he scored in Bari-Juventus (0-2). In 1998 he scored the 2nd goal in defeating Roma at home 3-1, and last year his spectacular goal with a few minutes remaining in Bari (1-0).

Serie A Preview: Juventus - Atalanta

>soccerage.com
01/19/2002.
Juventus and Atalanta meet for the fourth and final time this season (the Bianconeri won twice and lost once) with both sides looking for the full 3 points. Juventus, who had an adventurous return home from Bergamo Thursday night after having encountered a tremendous accident on the A4 motorway forcing the squad to drive around on their coach until 5.30 in the morning.

In view of the delicate Serie A clash the manager Lippi had left Trezeguet, Nedved, Buffon and Del Piero in Turin in order for them to rest and the latter of these players after having seen the team's performance declared: "The team that played in Bergamo proved that we have all reached a level of continuity that we were trying too. We now have to continue with this attitude and try to make a further improvement.

We have to face Atalanta again but we have to win this time as 3 points would be great both for our moral and in view of next week's clash with Chievo Verona. What has become extremely difficult is for us to have to play on these icy pitches and it might be a clever thing for us to consider taking a winter break. As far as our own pitch is concerned the work that was done on it this summer has made it one of the best ones in Serie A and so all the other teams should do the same as we did."

Atalanta, on the other hand, after having frightened Juventus a great deal in the Italian Cup match(even if the Bianconeri pretend nothing happened) with their baby squad in a moment where the manager Vavassori was having to deal with a great many important injuries. Without Rossini, Bellini, Zauri, Carrera, Paganin, Zenoni, Saudati, Colombo and Pinardi Vavassori defeated Juventus 2-1 even if the final score line could and should have been closer to 3-1 or 4-1.

During that match Atalanta's French midfielder Ousmane Dabo joined the list of injured players and will definitely not be available for Sunday (together with Rossini, Bellini, Zenoni and Orlandini) whereas Zauri seems to have recovered.

For Sunday Vavassori will have to do without Berretta too who is disqualified, and so the choice 2 weeks ago of bringing V.Espinal back to Bergamo (the young midfielder was on loan till June with Pistoiese) has proved to a very wise one that could turn out to be vital against Juventus.

THE PROBABLE FORMATIONS…..

JUVENTUS (4.3.1.2) Buffon, Thuram, Ferrara, Iuliano, Pessotto, Conte, Tacchinardi Davids, Nedved, Del Piero and Trezeguet.
ATALANTA (4.4.2) Taibi, Paganini, Sala, Carrera, Zauri, Rinaldi, Espinal, Pinardi, Doni, Colombo and Saudati.

PLAYERS TO WATCH….

JUVENTUS: Alex Del Piero and David Trezeguet are always the players that can make the difference even if in the last few matches Czech international midfielder Pavel Nedved is starting to produce some of the football he has got everyone used too.

ATALANTA: Doni as usual is the real leader of this squad proving he can play behind the strikers or in the defensive midfield position without any difficulties but to be able to obtain some points in Turin he will have to be helped by both Pinardi and Colombo who seems to be very lucky in Turin having scored his only 2 goals in the same net (one against Torino and one against Juventus).

LAST 6 RESULTS….

JUVENTUS: DWWWWL
ATALANTA: DLLLDW

Soccerage's prediction does seem bizzare considering both teams' recent form. Maybe they're pointing to the fact that it will be a tough game for us, but a game we are expected and MUST win.

Even more reason for the boys to win Stephano, and prove those bum heads wrong! But maybe the Drug Squad should pay a visit to the Soccerage offices!

Here's a Preview from Italian-Soccer.com:pREVIEW
Three times in front each other in ten days. On Thursday it was Atalanta to win, but to go through in Coppa Italia was Juventus. Anyway the cup's match is not too important, since both managers lined-up teams very different from those which will go on the pitch at Delle Alpi on Sunday afternoon. Lippi has one doubt among Conte, Davids and Zambrotta, one of them will get benched. Montero could be among the reserves after one month. Many problems at Atalanta, Vavassori has back Zauri and Pinardi but he misses Dabo, Bellini, Rossini and D.Zenoni. The coach at the end could decide to go for a five-defenders line. Juventus favourite, but Atalanta is always dangerous even if they don't appear to be in the middle of a great period.

PICK: JUVENTUS.

That last sentance shares my thoughts.

To use a phrase of very cOo Interista (but in a different context):

Juve should be pi$$ing on teams like Atalanta by now.

If we want to win any silverware at all this season we've got to be able to take care of business consistently. Our league form has improved as of late and it's time to get some continuity. We're currently 5 points adrift of the top dog Roma, so if we want to give them a run for their money now is the time to start seriously.

Plus this is a home game, we've got to win this.

Forza Bianconeri.

Pronostico mio: Al Juve
Pronostico du chien: Juventus.

Juve will win. Period!
