On Monday, Gica Popescu was in Bucuresti and he hinted to sports magazine ProSport ( www.prosport.ro ) about his future with Galatasaray.

quote:
I already have to firm offers, in finincial terms both are approximately equal to what I receive from the Galatasaray, and it is very possible that I am going to be parting from Gala before the European Championships, so after this season ends. I have had much success with them, hopefully we will conquer the UEFA Cup, which would be fantastic. I belive that I have done what was expected of me here and I fulfilled my expectations. I can only tell you that it is 80% certain I will leave.

A history lesson for those that don't know: Popescu came from Barcelona for a fee of 7 million dollars. He makes approximately 1.8 million dollars a year. With Galatasaray Popescu has won the league 3 times, the Turkish cup 2 times and has qualified with Galatasaray in the UEFA Cup final.
The most likely place he will go is England. He likes England, knows English, and earlier this year there was high speculation he already signed with Newcastle. So it would surprise me if he went somewhere besides England.
