Giants help out Fiorentina Monday 1 July, 2002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Three of Italy’s biggest clubs have moved to help ease Fiorentina’s financial crisis.

Juventus have agreed to sign youngster Emiliano Moretti (pictured), while Milan and Inter have bought a half each of Luca Ceccarelli.

The Viola have not only netted themselves just over £5m but they will also be allowed to keep the youngsters on loan for the new season.

The initiative was started by Milan chief Adriano Galliani who wanted to help the debt ridden club.

He managed to persuade Juventus’ Antonio Giraudo and Inter President Massimo Moratti to help out.

Moretti, a defender, has been signed for just over £1.5m. While Ceccarelli cost the Milan clubs a combined £3.5m.

We must be in a truely bad situation for them to sell our young "stars" and the backbone of our future squad. :depress:

We can do without Nuno Gomes, and even Chiesa, but if we managed to get back to Serie A and then Cecca's and Moretti's loan deals ends, we'll be in trouble again as we'll have to get replacements for them.

We just did a big gamble here, IF we couldn't pull it off, IF we failed to get back to Serie A in our first attemp when Moretti and Cecca are still here, then I can't imagine what we'll do in the next season! :depress:

Either way, I don't believe that other teams are helping us get through the crisis. And one of them is our biggest rival, Juventus!!! Even though they would gain more than we will do, they still offered us valuable help when we needed it. And that's what I can't really believe!

Fiorentina is seemingly not the only Italian club with financial troubles. Bad management the last 7 years is finally showing its signs for the Italian clubs.

Moretti may also join Juve immediately instead of staying with us for the next season, if Moretti, Pierini and Adani left then who is going to be our defenders?

True... financial mismanagement is not exclusive to Fiorentina, or Italy for that matter. At the same time, the sad thing is that Fiorentina do have some quite good players who would be welcome at many clubs.

If the Viola get back to Serie A I really hope that Moretti and Cecca will stay on for at least another season to help the mighty Fiorentina get back to where they belong.

Moretti is now in Turin for medical tests, so he'll be playing with them next season. :depress: And they seem to have an interest in Chiesa too.

A lot of moves are happening now, but somehow, they are more on the financial side than they are on the squad one. We already sold two of our young players, with Equi rumoured to be loaned to Boca Juniors, Nuno Gomes is linked with Benfica but their financial situation doesn't allow them to meet our pricepoint. What sucks is that the players we should have sold, mainly, Chiesa, Nuno Gomes, Pierini, Adani, Rossito, Amoroso, and Cois are still with us, whereas Moretti and Ceccarilli who may form the backline of our future squad have been sold. :wth:

BTW, Moretti's situation will depend entirely on wether we'll get a player with lower wages than Moretti to join us from Juve or not.
