Brazil Held, Colombia Wins, Venezuela Shocks The World !!!

04/01/2004. World Cup champions Brazil were held to a goalless draw by Paraguay in a foul-filled World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.

Paraguay never let Brazil settle, and keept the feared trio of Kaka, Ronaldinho and Ronaldo under control with a combination of tough tackling, organized defending and a bit of luck.

With this result, Paraguay remains second in the South American qualifying group with ten points from five matches while Brazil is in third place, one point back of Paraguay.

Elsewhere, first-half goals from Freddy Grisales and Frankie Oviedo gave Colombia a 2-0 victory over Peru.

This is just their first victory of qualifying competition.

Grisales volleyed home from close range in the 29th minute to put Colombia ahead.

Oviedo doubled the adavntage when he leaped between two defenders and headed the ball, after a well placed cross, just three minutes before halftime.

Venezuela pulled off a huge upset with a stunning 3-0 away win over Uruguay.

Gabriel Urdaneta fired Venezuela into the lead with a before Hector Gonzalez and Juan Arango scored second half breakaway goals as Uruguay's defence fell apart.

The hosts did hit the post in the first half while Deportivo's Pandiani missed a sitter that could have evened the score.

But Argentina had to play without captain Zanetti  and without Kily... that's the reason they struggled to beat Ecuador.
