TSV 1860 Munich’s chairman is of the opinion that the Champions League draw, which sees his side play Leeds United, could not have been worse – but their manager believes that it is best to play a strong team sooner rather than later.

1860 were paired against The Whites in the third qualifying round of Europe's premier club tournament, and their president Karl-Heinz Wildmoster is a worried man.

"Leeds were not our desired opponents," he said immediately after the draw. "They are one of the strongest teams in the draw."

However, coach Werner Lorent is looking forward to the challenge, saying: "It is a good draw. It is important that one plays against a strong opponent. This gives you the chance to gauge whether you are good enough to play in the Champions League."

Striker Martin Max feels playing at Elland Road first could help his team’s chances.

"I think that it is an advantage that we play away first, because they are very strong on their home ground," Max stated.
