Odbrambeni i spoljni igrači: Predrag Ocokoljić (Tuluz), Mladen Krstajić (Verder), Nenad Đorđević (Partizan), Milan Dudić (Crvena Zvezda), Goran Gavrančić (Dinamo Kijev), Ivica Dragutinović (Standard Lijež)

The game will be played like you probably know.
The team has some new faces, not my favourites, but Disljenkovic might be the right solution. Zigic gets the credit for scoring many goals in the league, and I guess it's correct to call him. I don't think that the team looks too impressive, not too many quality players, but Petkovic seems to be a good coach and maybe he'll teach the players discipline and how to work as a team-machine.

He could have called up Boskovic and P. Djordjevic, they're 2 good creative players we could do with. No Stefanovic either which is a bit of a surprsie while I'm guessing Vidic will still be in the Under 21 squad.

Big surprise is that Paunovic from Atletico M is not called. He is currently the best Serbian player in Spain. Another big surprise is that Vidic, our best defensive player, is missing. He is neither on the U21 roster. Unless he is injured, I see no reason not to invite him. Finally, Stefanovic, should be on the roster before any of the domestic-based defenders that Petkovic called.

From these players my starters would be:

Vladimir Dišljenkoviæ
Mladen Krstajiæ
Milan Dudiæ
Goran Gavranèiæ
Ivica Dragutinoviæ

Dejan Stankoviæ
Dragan Mladenoviæ
Danijel Ljuboja
Zvonimir Vukiæ

Darko Kovaèeviæ
Nikola Žigiæ

If I were free to choose I would for one pick some different defenders.

To me it does not make sense that Dudic is on the roster nor that Ljuboja, who is a forward-striker, is placed in the midfield. BTW, there is no work-horse (a la Duljaj) in the midfield. Who will fight with all those Norge terriers in the midfield?

Vidic's long time absence from the NT is an enigma. He is probably our best home-based footballer, and yet he has not played for the NT since the loss to Finland nearly year ago. Not inviting him and Stefanovic, our best air-ball defensive players, vs. Norwegians who always play high balls does not make much sense.

There is no place for Zigic in this team since there are no wingers, except Koroman to feed him balls? Maybe Mladenovic from the rear? If so, then forget the midfield.

Jovan Stankovic
Rambo Petkovic
Krupnikovic
Gvozdenovic
Vaskovic
Dzodic
Paunovic
Pantic

I am also puzzled that Rambo, Trobok, Lalatovic, Njegus, J. Stankovic are on the wishlist. Rambo basically finished his career when he left Brazil (I don't know whether he has been playing at all since). The others are not even starters in their own clubs. Then Vaskovic - why? Also what is special about Paunovic, Dzodic or Saveljic that they deserve to be invited? Don't we have domestic based players that are better than those three?

Seems that Ergic had mononucleosis.

:) i see you changed your mind about Paunovic.

As for the game, im curious to see if Ljuboja plays right behind the strikers and if thats the role he will be from now on. from what i remember and what i have heard, he is very creative and would be very dangerous at that position. We are loaded in the forwards position and if he can make the transition to this position then by all means do so. I want to see what Zigic can do for the NT. His height is such an asset and can cause lots of problems if he is given the ball, but i hope he is not called up because Zvezda are looking to market him and sell him. Also Cirkovic was not called up, i havent been following him since Partizans exit from the Champions league, so how is he doing? is injured? is he out of form?

Im with monte on the starting lineup. Are defense does look a bit thin, but then i hope we go on an all out attack and play some beautiful football.

I was thinking the same thing about Ljuboja but compared to the other strikers that got selected, Ljuboja does indeed play a little more in midfield position.

As for Zigic, true... still I feel that he's a better option than Kezman who also needs people to feed him the ball. Darko and Savo are pretty equal to me but I give the edge to Kova :) I actually feel that this midfield isn't that bad... I don't like Duljaj nor Lazetic that much anyway.

Ciao Montili ;). Maybe Ljuboja can play a withdrawn forward-attacking midfield position. However, I think for this role one needs a finesse player, a good passer and a good dribbler, like it was, for example, Mijatovic. Ljuboja, from what I saw of him, is a more robust, direct striker and less technical than Mijatovic.

Kovacevic is not in a very good form these days. Even so, he is useful since he participates in defensive tasks. Savo Milosevic, on the other hand, is much more skilled, in better form. In addition, he is a very decent fellow and a very nice personality. We need a captain and Savo is the man. Unfortunately, his participation in the game stops whenever his team is on defense. Kezman has my respect for his work habits and his smartness, but as a footballer he isn't high on my list. Zile (Zigic) needs balls, high and low, but needs to be fed in order to be lethal. He needs crosses and there is none on the roster to deliver those. Another problem with our forwards is that they don't score outside of the goalie box. Zile has done it here and there, but notthing consistent and nothing spectacular.

Red-Bandit: The key word in my latest assessment of Paunovic is 'currently'. (That did not apply in last October.)

Vidic is ill. He returned to France to have additional terapy for his back pain. This could be a long term thing. Bole is not playing very much (actually he is playing very little) for PSG.

This squad is OK, I also was wondering about where stefanovich was and where duljaj was at? I do like djislinkovic(sp-sorry) being in the net, but I kind am worried about him being there, we need him for the u-21 game and I hope that he'll be ok as in not getting hurt?! I would have liked pantic from partizan. Granted I only saw him a couple of times, I thought he deserved to be in the squad. I saw boskovic play a while back for PSG and actually, I thought he did quit well for them. I think he's injured and that's why he was on the bench. However, ljuboja should be interesting this kid is strong and has a good force when he gets near the net. I think this game will be close don't be dissapointed if we lose, however I would settle for a tie.

disljenkovic
kristajic
dudic
dragutinovic
n.djordjevic

stankovic
ljuboja
vukic
mladenovic

kezman
kovacevic

-looks like the attack and midfield/and goalkeeping is pretty good, however I'm not to impressed with the defense excpect maybe for kristajic. It looks like the midfeild will have to be very busy in this game?

I don't see why you guys are worried about the defence?

In Krstajic and Gavrancic we have an excellent central duo. Both are performing well at their clubs and the Ukrainians on this forum are especially positive about Gavrancic. A guy whom I've seen play these last few matches for our NT and IMO he did very well.
Dragutinovic played a great match on that left side against Bosnia last year so I'm anxious to see if he'll start now.
Ocokoljic is apparantly doing well in France, but as I understood from several reports, so is Dzodic and yet he's not there.
I like our midfield, Koroman is good addition, he's a very pacey winger, something our right side lacks. I'd like to see Deki on the left like at Lazio and Vukic and Mladenovic playing in central midfield.
In attack it's clear that Ljuboja deserves a shot, I'd play him as a second striker next to a targetman, of which we have 3 in this squad, Kova, Savo and Ziga. Savo is performing best at a pretty high level so I'd give him the role.
I see I forgot the keeper, give Dislja a shot, forget Jevric people, he hasn't been playing all season.

I'm expecting a small win against this Norway. Not a very dynamic team, so I don't think we'll be seeing very actractive football but as long as Petko gets the question of the best 11 sorted out, I'll be glad.

PS, I've had enough of this endless waiting, change the anthem and flag! :fero:

Thats a fairly good team, With Disljenkovic becoming the new goalie, i guess to take over Jevric's position, as he was injured this season, and nice to see that Zigic is in the team, but i wonder why Petko didnt call up P.Djordjevic, Ivic, Cirkovic, Vidic, Malbasa, Stefanovic ?

I hope Petko can rally the team to a win against Norway, will surely be a confidence booster for the upcoming WC qualifers.
