Mohamed VI can not be compared with FC Barcelona

18 months of prison for a moroccan teenager that replaced the word "king" for "FC Barcelona".

The Spanish football is popular in Morocco. Yassin Belassal, 18 years old, is a Barça fan and his passion for the club costed him 18 months in jail. Early this week, during the break between classes, he wrote the motto of Morocco, "God, Homeland, King", but he replaced the last word for "Barça". This idea wasn't appreciated by the direction of the high school of Ait Ourir, a town near Marrakech, and they denounced the facts to the Police. The agents interviewed the kids, even using violence, as long as the newspaper Al Jarida says, and Belassal confessed to be the author of the crime.

You can't make jokes with the name of the king in Morocco (K4: In Spain, neither). The attorney of Marrakech accused him of lacking respect to Mohamed VI. After a summary proceeding, where the guy didn't even have an advocate, Belassal was condemned to 18 months of prison on Wednesday in the afternoon.

He started to accomplish with them in the prison of Boulmharez, in Marrakecj, where he shares a cell with 80 common prisoners, as long as his family says. They've started the procedures to allow him to keep studying in jail. In June, he was going to pass the exams of the high school.

The sentence has outraged the few Moroccan newspapers that could talk about it and the civil society express their protests in forums of the internet. The head of department of Law, Omar Mahmoud Bendjelloun remembers, in an open letter sent to the Minister of Justice, the socialist Abelwahed Radi, that the youth of the mid-class quarters of Casablanca tattoo the word "Barça" on the arm and buy shirts of the club. Belassal, whi lives in a town near the High Atlas, only found this way to express his passion. "Do this continuous hunting work politcally at all?", he asked to the Minister.

The movilization of the civil society will probably force the authorities to give a step backwards, as it happened many times before. The blogger Mohamed Erraji was condemned to 2 years of jail for saying that the King promotes the "income economy" until the Tribunal of Appeals cancelled the sentence. 8 months ago, Fouad Mourtada, a computer engineer of Casablanca, was condemned to 3 years for creating a fake profile of Moulay Rachid, Mohamed VI's brother, in the social network Facebook. The King pardoned him last March.

Okay, this is stupid. Free the kid!!!

I do really believe that the club should do something about this. The club must give the kid the best advocate of his country and invite him to the VIP box of the Camp Nou in a big game.

Free Yassin Belassal!!!

Disgraceful but what do you expect from these decadent dictatorships and their so called 'kings'? The shame of a once great nation. Instead of progressing and rebuilding they are putting away kids for crap like this. Alas.

Indeed, the club should help him regain his freedom and after that he should be made an honorary member and guest. Laporta should do this, if he understands the meaning of un crit valent!

Freedom!

And "tant se val d'on venim, si del sud o del nord" (it doesn't matter from where we come, if it's south or north)... "una bandera ens agermana" (a flag makes us brothers).

Unfortunately this is not something new. Things like this happen all the time in Morocco and as long as there's a monarchy nothing will change. This is the sad reality and I doubt it's gonna change anytime soon.

you know, for a country with over 40% of its population are under the poverty line, they do know how to show how stupid they are, goverments that leave the big issues and make a big one from nothing, they put a 18 year old kid in jail for stating something, they didn't see right, but do they fix the 40% of thier population situation NO!

you know I've had enough of these fvckers ruleing without brain and thinking they own you big time!!

Wow. That's really superstupid.

I agree the Club should do everything in its power to help that kid.

And then how is one not supposed to be prejudiced about those countries that are limping on one broken leg of development.

I think Txiki should adopt him, and make him a honorary member of the first team, and Laporta should make a house for him next to the Camp Nou!!

Locking the kid up probably goes against Islam's teachings. I guess the king is just a twat.
