This is something that bothered be whole season...

In Ericsson time, there was no team in Italy who was more dangerous from in the free kick situation. The number of matches that were decided by Miha's free kick is probably very high. At the same time, Miha, Veron and Nedved too could create a problem from the corner too. Third, the defence of the opponent knew that making a faul in close to the goal is almos a goal, with Miha & Veron on the field. From that perspective, it was giving our players more breathing place in the attack & less chances of opponent going for a faul.

Now, what happened? Miha's injured and when on pitch, completly out of form. Veron & Nedved are somewhere else. Who's left?

I saw couple of free kicks taken by Liverani. Nice techniqualy, but no power. Deki, percise and powerfull, but predictable (although from the last couple of games, free kicks he took make me think that he had some private lessons with Miha:D;))

If Veron comes back, i see no problem for the next season. If he doesnt, which is probable, what happens? who should be the one from the current team that is capable of creating something out of a free kick? What about Oddo & Sorin? Will Deki, if having more of those "private lessons" reach the level considered dangerous?

My question basically is Who?;)

That depends if we have new player (Veron or Riquelme) ;)
If he doesn't come then i think Deki is the person for free kick taking. I assume as well he takes a private lesson from Miha :D:D

And for corner i think Claudio Lopez (again if he stays) is the man.

Good point about defenders being afraid to go in hard when the other team has a freekick specialist. That same thing could be seen a lot during this seasons UEFA cup with Feyenoord... and for a good reason! :)

It would seem a little know fact that Lazio already has a freekick specialist... well, sort of a specialist. :) The reason you haven't seen him in action is because he joined the team quite late and has been unable to play most of the season... yes, I'm talking about our very own Jaap Stam!

Sure his freekicks don't have the same technique as Miha (no swerve from Stam ;) ), but when it comes to power and accuracy there are few better. I've seen him fire freekicks with such power that the goalkeeper didn't ever bother to react!

So besides the possiblity of Stankovic developing into 'another Miha', for the next season I hope we'll see Stam behind the ball a few times to make that what only a few of us know, public knowledge!

Either that or we can try to buy Van Hooijdonk!

Good question and logical analysed aswell. :)
But hey, perhaps Miha will bloom again under the coaching from Mancio. You never know, at least I am hoping for it. :hopefull:

About our own :cool:Japie:cool:.
Jaap Stam should play upfront, and this isn't a joke..well..kinda. ;)
He has the body, the heading from him is powerful, and yes..that shot of his...

At least Mancio should try him in a friendly or so, just to prove my (farfetched?) theory.
