U.S. captain Kristine Lilly scored twice in the first half, and the Americans beat China 2-0 Sunday to win the Four Nations soccer tournament for the fourth time.

Lilly, playing in her record 302nd international game, scored on a penalty kick in the 11th minute and on a strong shot from inside the box just before halftime.

China came close in the first half, but Bi Yan's 25-yard shot hit the bar. Aly Wagner of the U.S. then hit the post in the 59th minute from a sharp angle.

"The mentality of this team is to look at any situation like this and just step out with a determination to win the day, and that's what they did," said U.S. coach Greg Ryan. "I don't think the crowd affected them, I don't think the cold affected them. I could see it in their faces and eyes before the game started, there was that additional focus and determination to win this game today. You don't always get the breaks, but I knew they would do everything they needed to do to win it."

Earlier, France tied Norway 1-1 for third place.
