Brazilian striker Ronaldinho Gaucho said on Friday he had put the controversy about his weight behind him and was looking forward to scoring goals against Uruguay in next week's World Cup qualifier.

"That thing about me being overweight is in the past," he
said as he joined the team's training camp at Teresopolis, a mountain resort near Rio de Janeiro. "I'm the ideal weight and ready to score goals."

Ronaldinho was dropped at the last minute from the team to
play Ecuador in a World Cup match in April because coach
Wanderley Luxemburgo said he was four kilos overweight.
The allegation infuriated staff at the player's club Gremio,
caused general bewilderment and sparked national debate about how much the player really weighed.

Ronaldinho was then left out of the squad altogether for
last month's match against Peru.

Some observers believed this was retaliation by Luxemburgo
after Ronaldinho celebrated a goal for Gremio by lifting his shirt and pointing to a clearly flab-free belly.
The 20-year-old striker, full name Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, was known as Ronaldo before adapting his name to avoid confusion with his better known namesake who plays for Inter Milan.

He made a huge impact last year with an exquisite goal in
the Copa America, wich was quickly likened to Pele's famous
effort in the 1958 World Cup final against Sweden.
