Spain, Mexico, Colombia all shouldn't be in the top 10...
Spain shouldn't be in the top ten??? As opposed to who? France, Argentina,Italy, Portugal? Give me a break. I'll admit that Spain don't deserve to be in 4th, but they definately deserve to be ranked ahead of teams like France, Argentina, etc... And yes, I do think Turkey should be ranked ahead of Spain also. Finishing 3rd in the WC, it's ubsurd that they are only in 12th.

Here is my world ranking list. Not based on some stupid calculations that Fifa do:

1. Brazil
2. Germany
3. Turkey
4. Spain
5. England
6. Korea
7. Italy
8. Sweden
9. Mexico
10. Denmark

Teams like Columbia shouldn't even be in the top 20. It's stupid.
Also teams like Argentina, France and Portugal, adios. They should be ranked like 11th, 12th,13th, but no way in the top 10, not after the WC performances they had.

Mendiata,

This ranking is is also based on the team's performance for more than 1 year. So don't be surpirised France and Argentina are still ahead.

Just an example ; a team having had a great World cup (+10 points) (but was average for a long time) and another one having a bad WC (-3) but with good results for more than one year.

802 - 3 = 799
655 + 10 = 665

As simple as that...

As long as Colombia is in the top 10, I don't see how anyone can these rankings seriously.

I know hypno, but it's still hard to swallow. Especially when Colombia is in there. I'm not sure if Fifa take's into account the nature of the game, but a team that's winning friendlies all year shouldn't even come close to a team like Turkey that whipped ass at the WC. The WC performances should totally outweigh any other results achieved during the year.

For instance, France has been playing friendlies for 2 years!!! just because we won both WC98 and Euro2000. I would have prefered they play real encounters: is this this the reward for success??
If France had to qualify for WC2002; we might not had this fiasco at the World cup.
It is not France fault to play friendlies. Hopefully, with the new reform , Brazil will have to qualify for the next WC.

On the other hand, Fifa does take in count if it is a friendly or a WC match. Go and check on Fifa.com how they calculate (cause i just cannot explain...)

Mendieta,
Colombia won the Copa America, which has big bonus points!

Next year when the Copa America will be held again they will drop considerably!

ze, you are assuming that colombia wont win the next copa america. but if brasil, urug, paraguay play with their third team again and arg does not even show up in the copa, colombia might win it again.
lets hope, for the sake of the most traditional international cup, that we all go with our best players.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: The FIFA rankings are worthless and meaningless. They were useless when we were on top before '98, they stayed useless when we fell and they are still useless today.

I don't think anyone thinks that the FIFA rankings are an up to the minute standings of World football. They are simply the result of a mathmetical formula and based on 8 years of results. If you look at the rankings and consider them over an 8 year period, they make a lot more sense.

Also the rankings aren't based on talent, they are based on results. Of course, the Dutch are probably better then Mexico but if you examine thier results over the past 8 years, you will see why they are behind them.
