A week ago after uefa rejected having Israel 'suspended' from the association, FIFA today has unanimously rejected a call that was introduce by the Arabs to bann israel due to the issues that is going on right now in Israel and the territories.
(May 3) ZURICH (AP) - Soccer's world governing body rejected Arab requests to ban Israel from the sport.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter said Friday that the ruling executive committee turned down eight Arab soccer federations that sought to suspend Israel. "The FIFA executive committee stayed very strong," Blatter said. "We're not a political organization, we do not intervene in any of these cases." Last month, Walid Kurdy, the deputy secretary general of the Arab Football Federation, said Israel should be suspended from sports, citing "racist policies" against Palestinians.
"There is a courageous precedent to that when South Africa was suspended for its racist policies" under that country's apartheid regime, he said.
