Will it be a 3-peat for Birgit Prinz?

and the three short listed are:

Birgit Prinz (Germany)
Marta (Brazil)
Shannon Boxx (USA)

unfortunately there are no swedes in it although I agree that they were not brilliant this year but Marta is there and I really think she deserves it this time.

and Birgit Prinz did it again...

3rd time in a row elected Best Player of the Year by FIFA with Marta coming 2nd (again!) and Shannon Boxx 3rd.

Amazing!

I guess it's the same phenomenon that had Mia Hamm getting all the votes long after she had passed her peak years.

I'm not saying Prinz has passed her peak years, but going by current form only, I can't see she deserves the win this year at least.

BTW the final Prediction Poll figures were:

Shannon Boxx 18.6%
Marta 55.1%
Birgit Prinz 26.3%

Yes I agree with you. No way Prinz had a year good enough to win it this time.
Marta should have grabbed it.
