Juventus will be without Cristiano Zanetti for the rest of the season and Giorgio Chiellini for at least a month after fresh injury setbacks.

Both players had only just returned from long lay-offs when they aggravated the recovering injuries during last night's 3-2 defeat to Cagliari.

Zanetti has the most serious problem, as he has suffered a thigh strain to the same left muscle that kept him out of action for four months.

More tests are needed on Monday, but with this diagnosis the midfielder is likely to be sidelined for a minimum of two months, probably more.

Chiellini also limped off clutching his left thigh and aggravated the same injury he had before Christmas.

The defender is going to be ruled out for at least a month and will definitely miss the first leg of the Champions League clash with Chelsea.

It is disastrous news for Juventus and may well force them back on to the transfer market, but time is running out, as the window closes on Monday.
:cry::cry::cry:

No Chiellini against Chelsea!!!!

These injury problems are getting way too far. Trez just came back from 6 months lay out, now we loose CZ for 5 months....Camo yet to come back. Who knows how serious Chiellini injury is.

WTF is going on? Never mind blaming the coach, we dont have enough players to field a proper team week in/week out.

How many games has CZ actually played this season? 2 in all? Ridiculous.

I don't have to elaborate on how missing Chiellini is a monumental loss. Chelsea are going to have us for lunch, it won't be pretty.

They say that he might be back for 2nd leg, what is in march, bad thing is that the damage from the 1st leg might be too much for us to make up in 2nd leg. And this Chelsea is good enough to come to Turin and hold their 1st leg lead.

We really must score in Standford Bridge.

We just conceded 3 goals to Cagliari in the Olimpico, what do you think Chelsea is going to do to us at Stamford Bridge?

We should have no illusions here, it's going to be a massacre.

And as much as i find Hasuni's allusion reprehensible, i have to admit i wonder as well...just our luck i guess.

The question is why Nedved isn't getting injuried when everybody else is? :frustrat:
:yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:

i don't know what to say. that's just cruel and ridicilous! that's noway of treating a -true Juve legend

your anger is misdirected. Nedved is not the problem!! i understand you all want to see Giovinco play but please get a grip of yourselfs. if someone deserves to be heavily critizied it is Ranieri and parts of the orginazation over him

Don't get your panties in a bunch, dear. I didn't wish for anything harmfull to happen to Nedved. As far as I know, nobody ever died of a minor football injurie. A month or two out for him would only mean that we would get the chance to integrate someone else in his position.

I love Nedved as much as the next guy, but currently he is hampering our team, and I love Juve more then him. I repeat, I didn't nor do I hope for anything serious to happen to him.

Nero, you had the same feeling before the fixture against Real;)
Chelsea are an ill team right now, they can very well beat us of course, but for now i remain optimistic for the outcome of the 1/8final.
And three goals over two games from our captain is the only reason we won. We cannot expect that type of decisive contribution from him against everyone, we will get found out this time.

This isn't the Chelsea of 2005. ;)

They nearly lost all the big games home and away this season, we can still cause damage, the game is still after 23 days or something.

your wishes and hopes are not very constructive, "dear" ^^

i can only repeat what I did, Nedved is not the problem! a 36 year old playing 180 minutes of consecutive professional football every week will naturally suffer, perfomance-wise.

it's a matter of utilizing our old and legendary guard correctly. our coach doesn't understand that.... amongst others..

BTW fantastic picture Osman!

Hard luck. Some times you're just persecuted by injuries, but at the same time it happens to so many of them, young and old, with past injury histories and without them, that you have to wonder if the preparation/training/treatment is up to scratch.

Because it really is beyond ridiculous now.

Zanetti and Chiellini: test results

As was planned, Monday was dedicated to medical tests for the injured players. Cristiano Zanetti and Giorgio Chiellini, who left the field early during the Saturday match against Cagliari underwent magnetic resonance tests under Professor Carlo Faletti at the CTO in Turin.

Zanetti was diagnosed with having suffered a second degree injury to the semi-membranous muscle of the left thigh. Such an injury fore-sees therapy for a period of between 50 and 60 days and a return to sporting activities within 75 days. Chiellini who also underwent tests was diagnosed with having suffered an inflammatory swell to the region below the left femoral biceps. Recovery and return to the field will take around 15 to 20 days and therefore Giorgio should be available for the first leg of the match against Chelsea valid for the last sixteen of the Champions League.

Two bianconeri halted and two are once again available for Claudio Ranieri as from the Wednesday match valid for the Coppa Italia. In fact the Juventus coach has welcomed back Giovinco and Manninger who today trained regularly with their team-mates. With regards to Camoranesi, his availability for the match against Napoli will depend on the outcome of the training session on Tuesday.
Looks like Chiellini might be back earlier. Still wouldnt want to see him being rushed, what i think has been the case for several times with our injured players.
