Duncan Feruson has been offered to British clubs as Newcastle look to offload his huge wage bill before signing either Emile Mpenza or Carl Cort but no club have been tempted to make a bid yet.

Bought for £8 million in November 1998 as a compliment to captain Alan Shearer he only just managed to complete the 30 league games required in the transfer deal for Newcastle to pay Everton another £1 million at the end of last season.

Newcastle manager Bobby Robson is touting the services of Ferguson for around half what they paid for him initially and agents representing the powerful striker have attempted to broker a return deal to Rangers, an attempt that earned a swift rebuke.

Newly-promoted Manchester City have been approached as it was Blues manager Joe Royle who got the best out of Ferguson in three seasons at Goodison Park, Ferguson's injury problems have put him off.

Middlesbrough are also unwilling to back up their interest with a firm bid and it seems that Newcastle will have to play a waiting game for anything to be sorted out.

i reckon newcastle should keep ferguson
even if he doesnt start, he can be influential off the bench
if robson wants to get newcastle to improve, he needs depth and selling ferguson is no way to do that

Mpenza has recently stated he prefers the French league over the Premiership. If a rival French team will come with a strong bid, it's likely Mpenza will play in France next season and not go to the Toons, although they thought they were so close to signing him.

Hold on to Fergie for a little longer! :)
