Ferguson : You'll Never Chach Us!!!

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes his title winners are light years ahead of the rest of the Premiership - and no amount of money spent by their rivals will change the fact.

Ferguson has watched on in the summer as chief title challengers Arsenal, Leeds and Chelsea have dug deep into their pockets to strengthen their squads in a bid to end United's dominance of the domestic game.

Chelsea have led the way by forking out almost £25million on bolstering their firepower, while Leeds and Arsenal have also shelled out £7million on new recruits with more big-money signings imminent.

But Fergie, who has dipped into the transfer market only to bring in France keeper Fabien Barthez for £7.8million, is unconcerned and feels his current crop of players remain peerless.

"One team could decide - we've got to beat United at any cost and spend £100million.

"But looking at the structure of this club and the youth levels here, we have every chance of being in front of them anyway. That's the challenge.

"This team is quite capable of maintaining its own momentum, regardless of what others are doing."

United strolled to their sixth Premier League title in the last eight years in May and their winning margin of 18 points was a record.

Throw in the World Club Championship triumph in Tokyo and it's easy to see why Fergie remains so confident.

"Last season was a very good one," Ferguson added.

"The one part everyone seems to miss is that winning the World Club Championship in Tokyo was an amazing feat.

"That, apart from winning the Premier League by a record number of points, was a tremendous achievement.

"And most people would say we were very unlucky to go out in the quarter-final of the European Cup," he told the Daily Mirror.

Tsk, tsk. I think his comment is to be interpreted differently!

He's aware of the 'cycle' and he's afraid it still continues this season, thus he tries to scare the opponents!

Note : 'cycle' = ManUtd winning the league title 2 consecutive years then for one year another club wins it.
91/92 - Leeds, 94/95 Blackburn :) 97/98 Arsenal
00/01 ?

He's scared...tsk tsk ;)
