There's almost no doubt that we'll go back to the 4-4-2 for the return leg against Deportivo as that's Fergie's preferred formation at home.
If Beckham is OK to play next week, we'll fill Keane's position with Fortune. He showed some good qualities in his minutes last night, so I think Fergie will give him the go.
If Beckham's out, then we might have to experiment and push up Johnsen into midfield, playing Phil Neville at right back and moving Gaz into central defense. I don't think we'll put Forlan in from the start; he'll be an option if the game gets out of hand and we need a more offensive look.
With a 2-0 cushion, the premium will be on a line-up that's got more of a defensive tone. In that case, look for scoring opportunities to come on the counter-attack. Irureta will want to throw everything at us (desperate to score early). If United can go into half-time without having conceded a goal, I think we'll come out in the 2H playing a lot like -- GULP! -- Liverpool.
One thing is for sure, the game next week will be a match of wits and tactics -- Fergie against Irureta. We'll see who comes out on top.
