MANCHESTER UNITED have raided Exeter City for teen prospect David Fox, with the youngster signing a three-year contract at Old Trafford.
The product of The Grecians' School of Excellence, who was targeted by a number of top Premiership clubs, including Arsenal, has never appeared for the first team but the 16-year-old has picked up a glowing reputation.

Fox, son of former City boss Peter, will be hoping to make the breakthrough under Sir Alex Ferguson (pictured), despite the fierce competition for places, before his initial contract expires.

Fox senior said of his off-spring's transfer: "There were a lot of the clubs after him, but Manchester United was the one he wanted."

United will be hoping for a repeat of the success of the last time they swooped on a South West club for a bright prodigy, as Lee Sharpe left Torquay to make his name in Manchester when Ferguson introduced his first bunch of fledglings to the first team.

Meanwhile, City are handing Simon Sturridge the opportunity to become Noel Blake's latest summer arrival at St James' Park, with the 30-year-old training with the Division Three side.

Sturridge, brother of Derby's Dean, has been released by Northampton.
