Hi all,

I played football yesterday afternoon, in my weekly Saturday afternoon match.

I was playing in goal the entire time, and it was pouring shots. One hit my stomach, I sat out for 1 minute, burped and felt fine :D

However, one shot flew straight at my head...the shot was an absolute rocket, and I blacked out for a second. It hit to top of my skull on the side, above my left ear. In fact, the upper tip of my left hear hurts when I press it.

I felt better after five minutes, but today I have a bad headache...and my head feels kind of weird...

Should I get a scan?

The impact was extremely hard.

I was really pissed off at the incident, as the opposing team continued play and scored the rebound. - Then again one can't blame them, in all modesty I was on fire yesterday! :pp

Seriously though, should I be worried about this? Have any of you experienced such accidents?

Emm, does it only hurt when you press it or does it feel strange??

If it only hurts then it's probably a minor thing, if the area feels kind of mushy (yes laugh all you want:D) then you probably are in shit:pp.

Either way, go get it scanned, I wouldn't do that though cause I don't trust the doctors in Abu Dhabi.

Btw, where do you play?

Well this was an indoor court at Al Manara school in Jumeira.

What's this with people not trusting doctors in this country? They can't be that bad!

Shouldn't be that bad I guess. Just make sure it does not continue to hurt. Otherwise it'll fade away in a day or so. :)

You'll get over it after a day or so....I once was playing as a forward in a football game ...and I ran towards goal and goalie got the ball...so naturally I just turned around and started trotting back towards midfield....the goalie tried to kick the ball but accidentally ended up hitting the side of my head just as I was turning my head sideways to see where the ball was gonna end up

I blacked out..the next few days my head was sore and it felt like my skull was broken..but it went away

If you don't have any loss of capabilities in your mental or motor skills...don't worry about it

Can u feel that spot in your head when u touch it? If it is somewhat softer or if u feel that there is a blood-clot then it is serious...then u must go to the doctor quickly.

I once had a very very heavy[it was unusuallly heavy] ball land right on top of my head from a good height and i blacked-out for 5-10seconds. It really hurt.

Was playing 5-aside today and this arsehole kept on doing slide tackles on me, pretty dangerously given the trivial nature of the game so I lined up to take a shot but actually aimed at him, hit it as hard as I could and got him straight in the gonads  That'll learn ye.

Symptoms can vary. If you wake up with a headache, feel tired or depressed, you have a concussion. You probably have one either way. Until your symptoms are present you shouldn't play footy. I'd take an extra week after also.

I once got concussion from a ball to the head. I actually got hit on the back of the head when I wasn't looking in the warm up, and then developed blurred vision followed by vomitting! I was only about 12 at the time though, I have never heard of an adult being seriously injured by being hit in the head/face.
