As regards Fabbrini, whose surname is the "Bull from Pinerolo" (Note: Pinerolo is a small town not far from Torino where he began to play, also famous cause the Uruguay team Penarol was so called because of it), is a player who last year did very well with Modena but this year not at all, in fact the coach De Biasi often left him on the bench.
Our last "Bull", the one from Sora, was something worse than disappointing, so I think that I don't want to see "Bulls" for some years... above one one who played for a long time for Pinerolo and ProVercelli.

Emiliano MORETTI, interesting youngster of Juventus (former Fiorentina player like Palombo) could be the substitute of Sacchetti as a right back.
Great, I like Moretti very much and I think that he can do well.

Exchange with Piacenza: Sandro Cois to Piacenza, Salvatore Miceli to Samp.
Salvatore Miceli, 28 years old defensive midfielder, will wear the n. 65 shirt. He has already been a player of Novellino with whom he obtained 3 promotions to serie A (with Venezia, Napoli and Piacenza).

Mattia Cassani, 19 years old defender on loan from Juventus till 30 june. Right side back, 183 cm. 71 kg., Cassani is one of the most interesting young defenders, in fact Lippi put him in the list of players for the CL (he already played in Kiev). He will wear the n.83.

Samp target Premiership duo

Serie B promotion hopefuls Sampdoria have been monitoring Manchester City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips and Arsenal midfielder Jermaine Pennant. The latter has also been linked with a move to Lazio this week.

Samp eye Atalanta trio Thursday 20 February, 2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sampdoria are planning to raid Atalanta if, as expected, they achieve promotion to Serie A this year.

The Genoa-based outfit are favourites to be one of the four clubs to acquire top-flight status and their transfer team are already looking for reinforcements.

Atalanta playmaker Cristiano Doni (pictured) has been linked with a move to Samp in the past and the latest reports suggest that the Italian international is still of serious interest.

However, the attacking midfielder is not the only Bergamo based player that Doria are chasing.

Goalkeeper Massimo Taibi is a target and he could move to the Stadio Marassi after he didn’t agree with the verbal abuse he was receiving from the Atalanta fans earlier this team.

Carmine Gautieri is another that is set to leave the Nerazzurri at the end of the current campaign.

The former Roma man has been frozen out of the squad after a bust-up with boss Giovanni Vavassori last week.

Now it looks likely that Gautieri will team up again with Coach Walter Novellino at Sampdoria after their time together at Piacenza last season.

Gautieri will probably have to replace Under-21 international Andrea Gasbarroni who is set to return to Juventus after his loan spell in Genoa.

We can't buy all the Atalanta team even if we have the former dg of Atalanta!
Anyhow, those regardins Doni and Gautieri are old rumours, while the one regarding Taibi is the consequence of the poor performances of our goalies.

Everton target Grandoni
Sampdoria defender Alessandro Grandoni is wanted by Everton. The Premiership side have watched the former Lazio defender several times this season with a view to a summer approach. Samp could be tempted to accept an offer of around £3m.

Doni happy at Atalanta Wednesday 19 March, 2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cristiano Doni has deflected talk of a summer switch to Sampdoria by committing his future to Atalanta.

The Italian international has been linked with a move to Samp, with reports suggesting a three-year deal is ready if they are promoted to the top-flight.

However, the attacking midfielder maintains that he is more than happy to continue playing his club football in Bergamo.

"I only signed a new contract at this club a few months ago which will keep me here until 2006," said the former Brescia man.

"The only thing that could upset that plan is if the club decide to sell me. But I have a good relationship with the management and that is important."

Speculation surrounding his proposed departure has increased recently after a number of disappointing displays.

"My performance against Piacenza last week was my worst for five years and I know I have let down the fans," he added.

"But a final judgement on my future will be made at the end of the season. I still have nine games to put things right."

Doni was expected to move to Roma or Juventus last season after he made the Azzurri 2002 World Cup squad.

However, the financial crisis in the Italian game saw any proposed move collapse.

In the end I think that if ever Doni left Atalanta he would not join Sampdoria.

Strong rumours regards some players coming back to Sampdoria.
Enrico Chiesa said that he would be happy to come back to Genova (yet, he will be 33 next year, pehaps a bit too much!). The goalie Mattia Sereni could also come back but there is an old question: when Mantovani Jr. sold Sereni to Ipswich Town, the fool promised to the goalie 3,5 milion euros if he accepted to be sold ( can a president of a team be so fool! ). Of course, Mantovani Jr. could not give Sereni the money promised (Mantovani had no money!! :howler: ), so Sereni is now asking that money to Garrone, the new president of Samp.
In the end I also do not appreciate at all the behaviour of Sereni, so even if he is a very good goalie I would leave him where he is now (that means on loan to Brescia from Ipswich).

Marotta, general manager of Sampdoria, talks about the next summer transfer campaign:

GASBARRONI

We have not discussed the matter with Juventus yet.
We have an excellent relation with Juventus so we can easily find the right solution for all. Of course we are interested in him and if Juventus showed to have no more interest in him we would buy him.

PALOMBO

Palombo is doing very well with us. I know that Milan showed some interest in him, but there has been no contact till now.
Also Roma and Bologna are interested in him, but considering the importance of the player for us I think that he can remain with us.

MATUZALEM (Brescia)

Novellino likes Matuzalem very much, but it is not easy to buy him.

STELLONE (Napoli)

Stellone is a talented player but we already have Bazzani, so we are not interested in him.

VOLPI

Volpi is showing to be one of the most complete play-maker of Italian football. Till now we had no contacts with any Italian or foreign club. We could sell him just for a lot of money. Of course if no one will offer us this money we will be more than happy to keep him.

FLACHI

I can't say that he will stay with us.
Florentia Viola have not officially asked for him. I think that they can be interested in him but till now I think that just the mass media are talking about him going to Florentia. However, I think that it's rather hard that a player who is struggling for serie A will accept to join a club which next year will probably play in serie C1.

DOMIZZI

A half of Domizzi belongs to Milan, we could be co-owner even next year and he could remain here.

GOALIE

It is not true that we are looking for a goalie. Turci is doing well and we wait for the end of the season.

SAMPDORIA

In Serie A, Sampdoria would not change so much the actual roster, since we consider it good enough to do well even in serie A. Surely we will try to keep the best players. We won't spend much money cause we can't.

Simone admits Samp contact Thursday 3 April, 2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Monaco striker Marco Simone has revealed that he could return to Italy this summer with Sampdoria.

"Samp have contacted me," stated the former Italian international. "If they achieve their aim of Serie A promotion then I would be interested in a move."

The former Milan and Como man is contracted to the Principality outfit until June 2004 but is currently at odds with boss Didier Deschamps.

Simone, now 34, left Italy in 1997 to join Paris SG. He then signed for Monaco but spent most of last season back on loan with the Rossoneri.

I read this on the newspaper today.
I think that he is too old and above all comes from AS Monaco, a club for luxury quite retired champions (see Bierhoff). No thanks. :groan:
