A tough draw for us, and Martin Jol returning to his former club.

With Tottenhams recent run of success I dont fancy our chances much :(

We probably are slight favourites, but you never know. Do you think there's a chance Robbo might rest a few first team players since a long cup run could also work against you ? (though it could also bolster your confidence)
Not that I want to face a second string eleven btw :D

nah not a chance.

Robson always has treated cup games as real games, he'll field the strongest side we have. He did as much at Boro.

I really like the look of this tie.Two teams with great FA Cup tradition.13 wins between the pair of them and with the tie being played at The Hawthorns it evens it up nicely....but don't try telling that to the London media who seem to be pervertedly obsessed by Southampton and Portsmouth!!

Yeah I was hoping the game would be shown live.
But I haven't heard anything yet.

West Brom v Tottenham

The Hawthorns
Saturday, 29 January
Fourth Round
Kick-off: 1500 GMT
Referee: Mark Halsey (Lancashire)
Commentary: BBC Five Live Sports Extra, BBC Local Radio and this website
Replay: 1500 GMT, Saturday, 12 February

West Brom boss Bryan Robson must decide whether to continue with Robert
Earnshaw alongside Kevin Campbell.

Darren Moore is available again after injury but midfielder Andy Johnson is
still recovering from a knee problem.

Simon Davies returns to the Tottenham squad after proving his fitness in the
reserve team's win at Norwich.

Fredi Kanoute and Rohan Ricketts are also in contention after recovering
from injury, as is Michael Brown, who returns from suspension.

West Brom (from): Hoult, Albrechtsen, Purse, Clement, Robinson, Gera,
Scimeca, Wallwork, Greening, Earnshaw. Campbell, Gaardsoe, Horsfield, Moore,
Contra, Kanu, Kuszczak.

Tottenham (from): Robinson, Pamarot, King, Naybet, Edman, Marney, Brown,
Carrick, Mendes, Defoe, Keane, Kanoute, Davies, Atouba, Yeates, Gardner,
Kelly, Fulop.

a.. West Brom boss Bryan Robson: "The responsibility of the Premiership is
the most important but the FA Cup is a big competition and we want to have a
good run in it.
"If that happens, it means we are staying unbeaten.

"With the 14 league games that we've got left, a Cup run won't get in the
way at all with the players."

a.. Tottenham boss Martin Jol:"The FA Cup is different. In Holland when you
play a lower division club you beat them 7-0 or 6-0.
"But here if you play a second division side they can beat you on the day. I
know that from experience.

"I played (for West Brom) against Plymouth, who were second division. They
beat us 1-0."

West Brom 1-1 Tottenham

England striker Jermain Defoe's penalty earned Tottenham a replay in a dour, hard-fought draw at West Brom.
Baggies striker Robert Earnshaw had already hit the bar before sneaking in between Antony Gardner and keeper Paul Robinson to volley his side ahead.

Defoe picked himself up to score from the spot after Darren Purse's ill-timed challenge brought him down.

Jonathan Greening struck the post for Baggies as they sought to win the game but Spurs held on for a replay.

Buoyed by their win over Manchester City, West Brom made a confident start and Earnshaw wasted a chance to give them an 11th minute lead with a weak volley after Jonathan Greening's cross drifted through to him.

Earnshaw went closer on 14 minutes when he escaped Anthony Gardner's attentions to shudder the crossbar with a thumping effort.

But the little Welsh striker's persistence paid off on 17 minutes when he took advantage of dithering between Gardner and Robinson to volley in Ronnie Wallwork's cross for his eighth goal of the season.

Spurs clawed their back into the game and were level on the half hour. Purse's mis-timed challenge sent Defoe tumbling in the box, who picked himself up to drill home the penalty low to Russell Hoult's right.

Referee Mark Halsey waved away penalty appeals as Spurs again struggled to cope with Greening's cross and Erik Edman appeared to grab a piece of Earnshaw's shirt to deny him a clean strike at goal.

Defoe had a golden chance to put Spurs ahead soon after the restart, but he uncharacteristically blazed wide of the target after Simon Davies's neat reverse pass played him in.

Gardner's foul on Zoltan Gera gave Albion a free-kick in a promising position, only for Neil Clement to blast his shot into the wall.

West Brom twice came close to taking the lead on the hour, with Greening first thumping a 20-yard shot against the foot of the post, and then Robinson saving well from a trademark Kanu run.

Spurs defensive wall again did its job when Davies fouled Kanu 19 yards out, standing firm to block Gera's shot, and earn the chance to take the Baggies back to White Hart Lane for a replay.

West Brom boss Bryan Robson.
"Darren Purse said he never touched Defoe, while Rob Earnshaw was tugged as he was about to score. "They were two key decisions that went against us, and I'm disappointed because we did enough to win.

"I didn't particularly want a replay, but it won't hinder us, the players can recover and I would rather be in the FA Cup than out of it."

Spurs manager Martin Jol
"We want to achieve things and maybe our name is on the FA Cup this season.
"The referee makes the decisions and from my point of view it could have been a penalty as Jermain Defoe turned and then he was on the ground.

"We had some problems early on, but in the second half we created chances, so a draw is a good result."

Boss lays down gauntlet to strikers

By Oliver Bhurrut

BRYAN Robson is keeping his options open on his first-choice strike
partnership after using four marksmen in the FA Cup draw against Tottenham.

The Baggies boss paired Kanu and Robert Earnshaw from the start for the
first time in four games.

And both players turned on the style, with former Arsenal hitman Kanu only
denied a goal by a fine save from England No.1 Paul Robinson after Earnshaw
had opened the scoring.

But both were substituted in the 78th minute to make way for forward rivals
Kevin Campbell and Geoff Horsfield.

"That's probably the best Kanu and Earnshaw have played as a pair since I've
been here," said Robson.

"They worked very hard and were a threat throughout but I just thought they
started to tire which is why I put on Campbell and Horsfield to freshen it
up and try and get a late goal.

"Kanu came in today with an excellent attitude and I thought that was his
best game so far.

"I want the boys to have a real challenge with one another to see who I'm
going to pick.

"Overall team work and finishing makes for good strikers and they have to
prove to me they want to be in the team."

Robson reserved praise for eight-goal top scorer Earnshaw's all-round
performance after a below-par display last weekend against Manchester City.

"Rob took on board what I said to him last week," he added.

"His starting positions were very good, he tried to close people down and
he's always going to be a threat because of his pace and movement when we're
on the ball.

"I was pleased with his response.

"On other days, his finishing will be better and as long as our build-up
play is good and we create chances, more goals will come for him - hopefully
in league games.

"He scored today, was unlucky with the one that hit the bar and was
definitely on to score when he was denied a penalty."

From what I saw of the game, we looked the better side, Gera was superb again along with Greening. Earnie took his goal really well from Wallworks excellent cross, he also hit the bar, should have definetly had a pen when obstructed and having his shirt held when right in front of goal, also blasted wide. Greening had a great shot that beat Robinson but hit the post, then Kanu went on a mazy dribble beat all the defenders but Robinson amazingly got a hand to his shot to stop him from getting the goal of the round. :)

Darren Purse definetly caught Defoe to give away their penalty, and then almost gifted Keane a goal late on witha ridiculous back pass.

HES A LIABILTY!!!!!!! We so need a better player at CB!

hell! you tell me? :) (and all the other fans!)
Purse is one walking red card and penalty.

Tommy G has great passing and was our player of the year last season!
Its sad to say but I think this is one I feel Robson has got wrong in selection terms, I'd have TG playing over Purse everytime.
