Everton completed the signing of Italian defender
Alessandro Pistone from premier league rivals Newcastle for three million pounds on Friday.
Pistone agreed to a five-year deal after thrashing out terms and passing a medical, the two clubs having discussed the fee earlier this month.
The leftback said: "I wanted to stay in England and that is why I signed for Everton. I came here because I wanted to achieve things."
Everton manager Walter Smith, who has been following Pistone from the time he played at Inter Milan, said: "He likes to get involved in the game and move up the pitch.
He is aggressive and I think he will add to our game in that department."
