Since this isn´t an NBA-specific forum, I thought we could have a thread for the upcoming Eurobasket 2013 qualifiers. Here are all the groups:

Group A

Serbia
Montenegro
Israel
Slovak Republic
Estonia
Iceland

Group B

Germany
Sweden
Bulgaria
Azerbaijan
Luxembourg

Group C

Ukraine
Croatia
Austria
Hungary
Cyprus

Group D

Georgia
Bosnia and Herzegovina :)proud:)
Latvia
Romania
Netherlands

Group E

Belgium
Poland
Finland
Albania
Switzerland

Group F

Turkey
Italy
Czech Republic
Portugal
Belarus

Basically, the top two from every group and the four best third-place teams all go to Eurobasket 2013. Qualificatipons begin August 15 and end Semptember 11.

My take on the BiH NT for Eurobasket 2013 qualifiers:

Before these qualifiers begin, we have a friendly cup competition to compete in, and you might remember it from last year. It is called the Adecco Cup, which is between all former Yugoslav republics (not including Kosovo). Last year, we lost to Slovenia (the hosts of the event last year as well as this year) 59-52 for the bronze medal. Not bad, but I think this year we will win that bronze, if not take the silver (we beat 2 out of three ex-Yu opponents at Eurobasket last year, Croatia and Montenegro). Now for the actual qualifiers. I am confident we will qualify. The difference between UEFA Euro and FIA Europe qualifiers are that there are no play-offs here in qualifying. It is a straight up, top two go for sure, and the best four 3rd-place teams qualify, too. No play-offs means we can not be ripped off like in Euro qualifiers. :D Starting from August 15th, there will be games every three days. Every team will face the other two times, once at home and the other away. Now, I think our first game will be key to if we qualify, as it will set the group´s tone for the rest of the way. We play Latvia, one of the three competitors for first place, and if we beat them (it is a home game), I think our chances will increase and we will have a comfortable spot for a while (we face the minnows Netherlands after Latvia). If we win game one against Latvia and game three is versus Georgia. Winning those two games is pretty much securing top two, barring upsets with game against Netherlands and Romania. Finally, my starting five lineup that I would like to see is...

PG) Wright
SG) Mitrović
SF) Đedović
PF) Teletović
C) Sinanović

Can one of the mods edit the thread title to European Basketball so we can discuss domestic leagues, EuroLeague, and NTs all in one. It would be better than having many separate threads with only few people like Gate 11, stanko (the two Israelis :D), and I mainly talk about it.

Since this thread will be all Europe, I will headline all of my posts to be clear on what topic I am discussing.

Adriatic League 2012-13

To introduce, the Adriatic League is made up of all Ex-Yu republics plus one other country (the country differs from year to year). Here are the qualified teams this year:

Croatia: Cibona, Cedevita, Split, Zadar (Wild Card)
Serbia: Partizan, Zvezda, Radnicki
BiH: Široki, Igokea (My favorite basketball club from BiH ; Wild Card)
Slovenia: Krka, Olimpija
Montenegro: Budućnost (Wild Card)
Macedonia: MTZ (Wild Card)
Hungary: Szolnok (Wild Card)

It is played on a table format, like football leagues. The difference is the top four go to the Final Four and play single-elimination games until a winner is determined.

Also, maccabi Tel-Aviv from israel played last year in the Adriatic league and lost only one game and won 27, and ofcourse won the adriatic league final four which was played in Tel-Aviv...
after this year maccabi decided to retire from the adriatic league because of the huge pressure playing in 3 different leagues (israeli one, adriatic league and euroleague) maccabi last year played over 85 games! which is a record for european clubs.

2012 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Men with the 4 european teams Started today, Russia won South Korea 91-56 and Greece won Jordan easily aswell.
tomarrow Lithunia and Macedonia will start playing.

i think all the european teams are favourites to qualify for the olympics... although i think the fight on the 3rd place will be between macedonia and lithunia because greece and russia both are stronger teams

Don't follow Adriatic league ever since Bosna Sarajevo (historically the most sucessful club from Bosnia) crashed with financial/management issues. Igokea and Siroki both suck, although I heard Siroki did quite well in the ABL last year.

Euroleague is the only good thing going, but they should increase the amount of games played and end the tournament with a play-off, best out of 5 series.

Internationals are always fun to watch and I expect Bosnia to advance from their group - finishing either 1st or 2nd.

2012 FIBA Olympic Basketball Qualifying Tournament

I think Russia and Lithuania will be the semifinals winners (meaning automatic birth) and Greece and Macedonia to third place, and the Greeks would then win obviously.

Well, Russia and Lithuania took the two automatic births for the 2012 Olympic basketball tournament. On their way, Russia beat Angola and Nigeria to earn a place at the Olympics while the Lithuanians defeated Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic to secure their own spot. The final spot went to the Nigerians for defeating the Dominican Republic in an easy route, with a margin of 15 points. I am very shocked that the Greeks didn't qualify for the Summer Olympics in Basketball, let alone reach the SemiFinals... (they lost to Nigeria by one in the QuarterFinals). Can't wait to watch the Olympics this summer, should be a good one!

I'[m going out on a limb and am going to predict that Spain wins the Olympics this summer. I will be rooting for USA though.

Pffft okay bro. maybe teams like Kazan play like that, but it just shows you saw maybe 1 game in your whole life of the top level in europe.

anywayz, im still shocked Nigeria kicked the greeks, such a disapointment from one of the teams who used to be one of the strongests in the world..

i will allways prefer the european basketball on the nba by alot.
i dont like the nba system, i dont like the american crowd which is booring like **** and i will never like the fact teams can change name and idenity all the time.

maybe the european basketball is lower level, but it will allways be much more exciting, with much more passion, and more.

Don't forget the fact that half the good the fans of elite teams, like the Miami heat or the Oklahoma City Thunder, are just bandwagoners. You never see that in Europe, which makes the atmosphere much more intense and adds a nice rivalry factor to the game a lot.
