here are my early predictions, typical Croatian fashion btw

vs. Austria 0:0
vs. Germany 1:0
vs. Poland 1:2

They will continue to trend of beating or playing well against the better teams (Italy, France, Brazil), they will continue to trend of underachieving in the matches they should win (Ecuador, Switzerland, Japan) and they will lose/draw when it matters (Ecuador, England, Australia)

I'm afraid of this scenario as well HS. My only hope lies with the fact that our fans will be there in great numbers and will push the team forward. Unfortunately I too am expecting the worst but hoping for the best.

I agree, now eduardo is gone it will be very tough to score a goal. if dudu was in scotland he would have scored some goals that olic didn't make

but i always have faith in the nt so i think germany and croatia will go through

Nah HS, fortunately you got it wrong.

vs. Austria 1:0
vs. Germany 1:2
vs. Poland 1:1

We will go thru with Germany.

you are all paranoid. in fact, your team has the quality to easily go out of the group. anything else would be a major upset.
here it is how it will be.

CRO - AUT 4-0
CRO - POL 3-1
CRO - GER 1-0

now look at this, Hungary's recent results against these teams:

GER - HUN 0-2 (2004)
AUT - HUN 1-2 (2006)
POL - HUN 0-1 (2007)

even we would advance from that group, so make Pannonia proud, Hrvatska!

svozkap, after our last few tournaments, we have nothing really to be optimistic about. I say go into it with low expectations and then you cant break your heart/spirit/balls/head/brain:proud:

that's how I do it usually, but then Croatia is not Hungary after all. once a bad tournament spell will come to its end, and when if not now? anyway, I just see it from an outsider point of view, and I also predicted your team to fail in the WC group 2006 but now I'm quite confident you make it. well, look at it like this:
Croatia 2008 > Croatia 2006
Brasil > Germany
Australia > Poland
Japan > Austria

and you get the picture ;)

hope you don't mind though, but in the end I'll cheer for our other neighbours in the east.

at least option No 3 .. ;)

i think croatian team have the abilities to reach this stage , i consider them as one of the best european teams in the qualifying stage . , they have some impressive , professional players , they knocked out the english team and showed some brilliant games.. so , it`s the time from the croatian to prove something in this competition . :)

good luck . :star:

I dont see why Croatian shouldnt make it to the finals and be a 'Cinderella' in this upcoming Euro. They have a really great team which can compete with the major powerhouses. Even France, which everyone is talking 'highly' of....

Thanks guys!!
I think this too is the year we get out of the group stages. I know my country mates are down playing our chances but this team has real quality and skills. Since the late 90's we haven't had the team and the talent come together like this. Mainly because through the early part of the decade we just didn't have the players. But now we have the players but most importantly they work well as a team. This may be the first time in our soccer history where we'll actually have real battles to see who will make the 23 players squad. I'm not sure we'll win the tournament, that might be going a bit far, but penciling us as a darkhorse works for me.

I can barely wait for the Euro's to start!!!!!
