Our squad for the Norway & Italy games:

Goalkeepers:

Vladislav Stoyanov (Ludogorets)
Nikolay Mihaylov (Mersin)
Bozhidar Mitrev (Seriff Tiraspol)

Defenders:

Nikolay Bodurov (Fulham)
Georgi Terziev (Ludogorets)
Ivan Bandalovski (Partizan Belgrade)
Alexander Alexandrov (Ludogorets)
Vesselin Minev (Levski)
Yordan Minev (Ludogorets)
Ivo Ivanov (Beroe)

Midfield and Attack:

Svetoslav Dyakov (Ludogorets)
Simeon Slavchev (Apollon Limassol)
Ivaylo Chochev (Palermo)
Stanislav Manolev (Kuban)
Hristo Zlatinski (Uni Craiova)
Georgi Milanov (CSKA Moscow)
Mihail Alexandrov (Ludogorets)
Todor Nedelev (Mainz 05)
Ivelin Popov (Спартак Москва)
Alexander Tonev (Aston Villa)
Ventsislav Hristov (Skenderbeu Korca)
Iliyan Mitsanski (Suwon Bluewings)
Valeri Bozhinov (Партизан Београд)
Alex Kolev (Botev Plovdiv)

By calling Alex Kolev and Ivo Ivanov, Petev made this world a slightly better place to live.

However, I can easily imagine our starting lineup to include the Minev Brothers on the right and left backs :palm:

He has a flat in Sunny Beach. Ever since he is there in June playing minifootball with friends (former and present players; Stan Petrov used to play too, but I haven't seen him this year). This year's camp extended over July and part of August, as he is still without a club.

But he is still much better than all the mugs Petev calls. His magical touch is still there. The lazy bastard is a genius

Nice! lol minifootball is great, something Romania is actually successful in :D

I don't know very much about the Bulgarian team these days, but imagine if you still had Petrov and Berba in their primes, plus Popov, Manolev, Milanov, and Tonev.

Any promising youth players for the future? Predictions for Italy and Norway? I think Norway are beatable, and maybe you can get a draw from Italy like you have in the recent past. Good luck

I dont'know, man. I think we do have decent youth players, but we lack good coaches and agents, and players' development is a huge issue. In Bulgaria, they cannot develop that well. Our first division consists of 10 teams, and only Litex and to some extent Levski Sofia's policies are to rely on their youth. The academy of Litex is probably the biggest and best one of the country; they keep delivering about half of the good young players Bulgaria has produced lately. To mention a few of the known ones, those include Ivelin Popov, Georgi Milanov, Simeon Slavchev, and now AM/CM Kristian Malinov and Nikola Kolev, who play on a regular basis for Litex. Bozhidar Kraev and Borislav Tsonev from Levski, Alex Kolev from Botev Plovdiv and may be Alex Vassilev from Ludogorets are also worth mentioning, but that's about all.

As regards the forthcoming games, it is realistic to expect a win over Norway and loss in Palermo. We have never won points in official matches in Italy, as far as I know. The NT manager is not defensive-minded (which I like) and tries to impose an aggressive style of play but the performers' class is lacking.

btw, first GK Vlado Stoyanov got an injury at training and was replaced by Blagoy Makendjiev. Latter is probably the best GK in A RFG right now, but it doesn't mean much, as the son of the Bulgarian Football Union's President Nicky Michaylov will be starting anyway (even if Vlado Stoyanov was healthy)...

Just look at the statistics of the three GK's called as from July 1, 2015:

- Michaylov (Mersin ID, Turkish Superliga): 3 games played / 9 goals conceded
- Mitrev (Sheriff, Moldovian 1st division): 4 games played / 3 goals conceded
- Makendzhiev (Beroe, Bulgarian 1st division): 11 games played / 4 goals conceded.

We go to the stadium at NT matches to see Baldie Jr. just as we go to the zoo to see a funny animal.

I somehow jinxed it and there will be no funny animals at Vassil Levski Stadium tonight. Michaylov gets an injury at training. Most probably Mitrev starting in the goals, but Makendzhiev is also a good option. So, we are more or less safe as regards the GK's position.

Probable staring lineup:

Mitrev
Y. Minev Terziev Bandalovski V. Minev
Dyakov Zlatinski
Manolev Milanov Popov
Mitsanski

Well, a few days back i predicted a win vs Norge and a loss vs Italia, so may be we will win in Palermo tonight.

Seriously, we are no match for anyone right now. Wrong tactics, wrong performers and complete lack of class. In partcular Chochev was totally out of place as a DM last Thursday. The lines were disconnected almost all the time. Mitsanski was sub-zero, and Popov carelessly missed both semi-chances we had on the night.

For today, I would put Popov as a DM next to Dyakov. Milanov and CB Alexandrov would take a good rest, and I would have Slavchev and Ivo Ivanov instead. Manolev on the RB. Misho Alexandrov and Tonev on the wings and Hristov starting as a FW (avoid Bozhinov at all cost).

But i know it won't happen as Petev is not free to decide on his own.

Why only ten teams?? That's quite small for a league. But I guess there are benefits as you don't overextend the talent pool etc.

I watched part of Italy 1-0 Bulgaria, was incredibly boring for the most part. El Shaarawy ran most of it, Bulgaria had some moments, but overall I guess it was the typical Italian 'protect a 1-0' game. They're happy enough to just win.

Sucks about your tactics, Romania suffering quite a bit under Iordanescu as well :/ although at least we don't concede/lose :pp still, in a better group we probably would..'

Damn, two 1-0 losses in a row now, tough to take eh. So Bulgaria is certainly out. Time to focus on the WCQs. I would use more younger and 'middle aged' players for the last two games just to help integrate them more in preparation for the future.

I should really start following Bulgarian football more, since I recently found out from my father that his father said we 'might' have some Bulgarian roots :pp being so close to the border (near Craiova), I guess it's logical enough.

I like this guy, I was managing Bulgaria on my FIFA 15 career and he's a decent CB. Also, his last name is close to mine, Buduru :pp

Petev is the coach? What are his credentials?

Bodurov is old, he shouldn't be a part of our new NT project. But obviously Petev's task was not to build a new NT project, but to serve the interests of the mugs in the BFU.

Petev was the coach to bring Ludogorets into A RFG (Bulgarian's first professional football level) at the time their new owners took the club over. He won 2 titles there but was sacked in spring 2013 following the failure of Ludo to enter the CL groups and the following decline of their play. Levski Sofia tried to appoint him but he was attacked (physically I mean) by ultrads at the inaugurating press-conference and ran away. Then, he was in Cyprus (AEL) for some time but failed to make the CL groups there too, and was sacked.

He is the NT manager thanks to some lobbying by the owners of Ludogorets, who are quite influential in BG football (owning the TV rights for A RFG through a company solely owned by them; taking the BFU CEO to Ludo trips away and to some exotic islands for holidays for free etc.)

Petev has some decent tactics in his head as a coach but he is not independent in taking decisions I think. But he is not the big problem in our football. It is probably this guy:

The group for Croatia and Azerbaijan:

Goalkeepers:

Bozhidar Mitrev (Seriff Tiraspol)
Blagoy Makendzhiev (Beroe)
Plamen Iliev (Botosani)

Defenders:

Alexandar Alexandrov (Ludogorets)
Ivo Ivanov (Beroe)
Georgi Terziev (Ludogorets)
Ivan Ivanov (Basel)
Strahil Popov (Litex)
Zhivko Milanov (Levski)
Anton Nedyalkov (Litex)
Assen Georgiev (Montana)

Midfield and Attack:

Georgi Kostadinov (Levski)
Simeon Slavchev (Apollon Limassol)
Ivaylo Chochev (Palermo)
Hristo Zlatinski (Uni Craiova)
Georgi Milanov (CSKA Moscow)
Mihail Alexandrov (Ludogorets)
Todor Nedelev (Mainz 05)
Anton Karachanakov (Slavia)
Ivelin Popov (Спартак Москва)
Alexander Tonev (Frosinone)
Dimitar Rangelov (Konyaspor)
Andrey Galabinov (Novara)

Well, quite a surprising list. No Mihaylov and the Minev Brothers. Manolev also missing, but Stahil Popov is an adequate replacement. The defense also includes Ivan Ivanov from Basel, who returns after a long-term injury. In-form Karachanakov may be a very good addition upfront, I hope he gets some playing minutes (probably vs. the Azeris only). Slavchev is regaining confidence after his awful times at Sporting and Bolton; I reckon he could be one of the anchors of our new NT.

And finally, BIG LOL at UEFA's sci-fi optimism.

New lows for our NT manager as Galabinov (plays for some obscure Serie B team) declines the summons for the upcoming games. Petev calls Ventsi 'the Mad Perch' Hristov from Skenderbeu as a replacement.

Hristov, Hristov! At least there's some CL experience in there :pp and Zlatinski :proud: does he ever get any minutes with the NT?

Good luck in these games, seems tricky given the situation too. Croatia in a relatively weak moment, though

Thank you, Hagibest! The Croates may be choking, so we might steal sth at Maximir. Maximir without fans. That is going to be ugly.

Zlatinski is a very good backup option in the midfield, but Petev did not use him in the previous two games. He might even be a starter vs. Croatia as Dyakov is not in the squad.

Petev will probably go after the game vs. Azerbaijan. The manager of Beroe Petar Hubchev is rumored to be our next NT coach. He already was in charge of the NT as an assistant of Plamen Markov back in 2003-2004 (when we last played at some final round, the 2004 EURO in Portugal).

He is known for his preference for defensive tactics, and is sometimes too commanding towards players. This style of his brought him success in a smaller club such as Beroe, who won the Bulgarian cup and Supercup in 2013 and became runners-up to Ludogorets last year.

May be he would be the right guy for our NT, as he seems to be quite stubborn and would probably resist pressure from the football union mugs.
