ESPN's World Club Top 25

Defending European champion AC Milan ran out to a 4-1 lead over Deportivo in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League this week. The win allowed Milan to retain the top spot in the ESPN World Club Top 25.

Arsenal extended its unbeaten run to start the Premier League to a record 30 matches with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United over the weekend. The Gunners also played rivals Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in Champions League quarterfinal action this week.

Real Madrid bounced back from a recent slump and recorded a pair of victories. Ronaldo scored twice in Real's 5-1 dismantling of Sevilla on the weekend.

Elsewhere in Champions League action, Porto took a 2-0 lead over Lyon.

The UEFA Cup quarterfinalists were determined this week. Celtic pulled off the upset of Barcelona while Valencia, Newcastle and Inter also made the last eight.

River Plate of Argentina is among the Top 25 for the first time this season. After a dismal Apertura season, River is in good form in the Clausura and in the Copa Libertadores.

The ESPN World Club Top 25, a computer-based ranking of the world's top clubs, was developed by the staff at ESPN International in 1999. Now in its fifth season, the Top 25 formula takes into consideration performances in league, continental and cup competitions.

The Top 25 is released every Sunday night throughout the football club season during ESPN's SportsCenter broadcast from Buenos Aires.
