Enke Agrees Barca Deal- Report


04/20/2002. According to reports, Benfica goalkeeper Robert Enke has agreed terms with Barcelona and will join them at the end of the season.


It was well known that the German international planned to leave the Portuguese giants and there had been much speculation as to where he would be playing his football next season.


Espanyol were strongly linked with the player but it would now appear that Barcelona's other club have won the day.

I don't really know what I think about this. It comes very suddenly, I haven't heard about it until I read it on cnn's teletext. I'm not sure I like it, because I'm a big fan of Bonano, I think he's an amazing player, and a very loyal one aswell .

But I haven't heard yet, is it on a free transfer, and does this mean he'll replace Bonano, I damn don't hope so !

I read about this in todays "Sport". It`s only a rummor and no contract it signed. Enke is one of the alternatives for next season. Barça want to sell Dutruel and Reina. Enke is one of the choises as the new back-up for Bonano.

i dunno, i kinda like bonano, i know enke was considered hot property a few years back, not sure how he has played since at benfica...

one thing for sure, he is way better than dutruel !

Bonano is a great keeper, but he is kinda shaggy in dealing crosses. Sometimes he completely miscues the height of the ball.
About Enke, I can't comment on him because I have never seen him play before. If he's good, why Voeller didn't called him to the nt( he calls Kahn, Butt, Lehmann, and Baumann)

In Germany they seldomly call players from minor european leagues into NT, whoever the coach is, that has nothing to say, believe me, mate.
It was the same with Albertz and Klos when they were doing great at Rangers. Or Poschner at Rayo. They where not even mentioned as options ... but simply forgotten.

Well, Baia was the best goalie in Portugal too, at the moment we`ve bought him.

Anyways, I doubt we need to sign this guy. Bonano have to be our Nr. 1, so that doesn`t make sense to buy Portugal star to bench him. I still believe in Reina`s progress. It`s our guy who have to sit on the bench and to learn from Bonano.
