I don't have time to maintain the usual team by team updates this year, but I can still do this shit. Obviously catching up initially.

Philippe Coutinho Liverpool > Barcelona £142m

Obviously the biggest deal in January so far. A big loss for the league of possibly the best Brazilian to play in this country. I'm sure he'll do excellent at Barca.

Virgil Van Dijk Southampton > Liverpool £75m

The Southampton to Liverpool train has gone into overdrive, breaking the world record transfer fee for a defender. Personally I think Van Dijk is worth it, as he's an absolutely superb defender and has been the best defender in the league for the last year or so for me. I think his pace, strength and ability to bring the ball out coupled with good distribution make him ideal for Klopp.

Cenk Tosun - Besiktas > Everton £23m

I suspect Everton have bought a dud here, this guy has only become the main man at Besiktas recently and was a bench player just a couple of seasons ago, he's already 26. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

Ross Barkley - Everton > Chelsea £15m

This could turn out to be an inspired signing as Barkley remains one of our best talents. At his best he can run at defenses Gazza style and if Conte can get productivity out of him on a regular basis this will look an absolute bargain.

Georges Kevin Nkoudou - Spurs > Burnley - Loan

Barely used by Poch and more known for his Twitter banter with Michy Batshauyi than anything else over here. However he was highly rated when at Marseille, so could be a difference maker for Burnley. Good chance for him to get regular PL football and prove he's at the required level.

Terence Kongolo - Monaco > Huddersfield - Loan

Hasn't really played for Monaco, I think a lot of people thought he might fill the void when Mendy went to City, but Jorge has taken that spot instead. No option for Huddersfield to buy, but Kongolo can play at LB or CB so it's a good option for them to have. Plus his brother Rodney is on loan at Doncaster from Man City, so they can tear up the nightclubs of West Yorkshire.

Hot rumours atm.

- Arsenal seem to be at the centre of everything, with talk of an Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan swap being all the rage at the moment. They are also apparently in for Aubameyang and Malcolm and selling Walcott to Everton which would be quite the January overhaul.

Other than that it's mainly teams in the relegation battle getting ideas above their station, including such gems as....

- Watford going after Joao Mario :howler:

- Swansea pursuing Kevin Gameiro :howler:

- Watford and Swansea both pursuing Nico Gaitan :howler:

- Southampton trying for Guido Carillo :howler:

Hopefully also for the Dutch NT.

I read that Wijnaldum had a good game against Man City's de Bruyne. Is that true?
Holland's current midfield at the moment is somewhat ordinary.

:wee:

Kongolo plays best as a LCB. Any chance he could play there soon? for Schindler or big Zanka

From his point of view, it was nice to see Huddersfield lose 1-4 to Arnautovic, Lanzini and co.

Theo Walcott - Arsenal > Everton £20m

Walcott was at Arsenal for years and never quite became what they hoped he would be. I still think £20m for him in this current insane market is pretty reasonable. He's usually good for 10-15 goals a season.

Yeah, he did alright from what I saw, he's a solid if unspectacular player for Liverpool.

Marko Grujic - Liverpool > Cardiff - Loan

Sensible move for all parties imo, Dude isn't getting many minutes with Liverpool, so the chance for him to get used to playing English football at a senior level will be good for him, better than loaning him to some Dutch club.

Alex Pritchard - Norwich > Huddersfield £14m

Interesting signing for a side who lack a creative spark. Pritchard has proved to be too good for the Championship on a couple of occasions and now needs to prove he has premier league quality.

transfermarkt has reported that Konstantinos Stafylidis has moved to Stoke on a loan (from Augsburg) however haven't seen it reported anywhere else. He's pretty good going forward but not the best in defense

Jurgen Locadia - PSV > Brighton £14.1m

Deal done, Brighton need some attacking impetus as none of their current forwards look like regular premier league goal scorers. Hopefully he transitions better to the premiership than the likes of Memphis and Janssen did.
