English based players

It seems the English leagues have improved vastly. Out of all the players involved in the World Cup; most are based here.

England - 101
Italy - 75
Germany - 59
Spain - 58
France - 56

Imagine if Holland had qualified!

not sure about italy being dry, in the winter, it rain and it snows in the north where most of the big clubs are anyway.

EPL has definately improved over the years, number 1 in the world is a hard statement.

Spanish league would have to be the best as their teams seems to dominate in the CL and in europe in general.

German teams did well too...as have the teams.

i think europe is getting to be very even now, unlike the 90's where italy, spain and german teams dominated. man u got teh last one though.

next seasons CL should be interesting as i think teams like Arsenal will take an extra step. the big boys of the 90's like Juve, Ajax, Dortmund and Milan are back.

yeah, it seems strange watching the WC and not seeing holland, with davids, seedorf, overmars, cocu etc....and cqech with nedved, rosicky, porbovsky.......Chile with Salas....so many good players missing.

Surprised to see they're arent more players from Spain in the WC.

Southampton has its fair share of those english based players: Bridge, Svensson (who played well against england) and Delgado (who is playing right now against Italy).

Which teams, apart from England, have the most squad members based in England then?

I'm guessing Sweden, France?

Not quite sure why you guys are so proud of this fact.

It just goes to show that you've recognized the fact that if you want to see the best quality football, you've got to go outside of England to buy it. Well of course the world's best will continue to go where the highest payday is available. We thank you for paying the salaries that allow players from other nations to develop their skills, and then come back to play for the national teams which kick your ass.

Way to go.
