After that superb comeback in the League against Paços, moral is high in Alvalade, so there's a lot of expectation for our first match in the 2011/12 EL's Group Stage. Our opponents tonight are no mugs as they came from the CL play-offs where they lost with no less than Bayern Munich.

Reports say that Domingos should field a very similar XI to the one that started in the weekend with the exceptions of Elias (cup tied) and Bojinov, who should be replaced by Izmailov and van Wolfswinkel respectively.

Here is the list of players called for this match:

Goalkeepers: Rui Patrício, Marcelo Boeck and Tiago.

Defenders: João Pereira, Alberto Rodríguez, Oguchi Onyewu, Anderson Polga, Emiliano Insúa and Evaldo.

Midfielders: Fito Rinaudo, André Santos, Bruno Pereirinha, Marat Izmailov, Stijn Schaars, André Martins and Diego Capel.

Forwards:
Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Diego Rubio, Valeri Bojinov and André Carrillo.

Let's hope for a win!

FORÇA SPORTING!!! :fero:

Official line-up is out and there is one (good) surprise...

Rui Patrício
João Pereira - Onyewu - Rodríguez - Insúa
Rinaudo
Pereirinha - Schaars
Carrillo - van Wolfswinkel - Capel

Bench: Marcelo Boeck, Polga, Evaldo, André Santos, André Martins, Bojinov and Diego Rubio.

Izmailov will not be the one replacing Elias but rather 'El Culebra' Carrillo. :excited:

Yes, Wolfman Ricky must be all fired up for this game after giving us the winner against Paços. He is my captain in the EL fantasy and I also have Mertens and Bouma. :D

Very nice cross from a freekick from the right by Schaars and Insúa heads in at the first post. Nice dead ball on our favour for a change. :D

Insúa doing what no left back did for us in years, going to the line and crossing dangerously, and Ricky tapping in.

2-0 after 21'. Sweet. :lick:

Right before the second goal we had a double goal chance. First Schaars again from a direct freekick forced the keeper to punch away and in the rebound Capel lashea great volley from outside the box very well saved by the keeper.

We are controlling the game so far.

FCZ 0-2 SPORTING at HT

A good first half for us without having to put too much of the foot on the pedal to be better than the swiss. Nice to see us doing things that have been so far from our football for too long - taking advantage of set ball situations and using the flanks to cross well.

On the bad side there were a couple of brainfarts in defense that really should be avoided once and for all. Zurich only created some danger from a couple of those silly gifts from our defense.

A third goal should kill the game so I hope we start the second half looking for it and not sitting back on this result.

The Swiss hit the post by Mehmedi on another softy softy approach from our back 4.

At 60' our first sub: André Santos in for Carrillo. Not a very good sign from the bench.

And at 64' the second change. Diego Rubio in for Ricky. Good game by the Wolfs.

These Swiss are a bit dirty. Too many fouls not enough football from their side.

And for the third time in the game the swiss hit the crossbar. It was the second time Rodriguez did it both from freekicks.
