In normal circumstances this game, and tie, should be a mere formality but what happened so far in this start of season shows something different.

Sá Pinto's credit gets smaller as time goes by, unless one is a member of our ultras. He seems to be the only one not to see that we are not playing well and a proof of it, besides his xanax fueled post-match press conferences, is the line-up for tonight...

Rui Patrício
Cédric - Boulahrouz - Marcos Rojo - Pranjic
Gelson Fernandes - Elias
Adrien
Carrillo - van Wolfswinkel - Diego Capel

He replaces Insúa with Pranjic and keeps that midfield full of casting mistakes.

The trouble is that if we win tonight there will be a lot of fans of my club that will simply forget what happened in Guimarães and on Monday against Rio Ave in Alvalade.

Unbelievable miss by Elias after a great ride by Carrillo on the right side. Déja vu.

VAN BASTEN! 1-0 at 7'.

Great breaktrough diagonal pass by Boulahrouz and this time Ricky did what he knows well to do.

Capel and Rojo have good goal chances in the space of one minute.

Our Danish friends do like us :D

2-0 at 23'! Another good long ball this time by Pranjic to Carrillo. The defender marking the Peruvian ended up getting the ball in the back of his own net when trying to put it for a corner. A fair result as it's been a one way traffic game as expected.

SPORTING 2-0 Horsens at HT

We started pressing, created very early a couple of good chances which were wasted, and when we feared another festival of nerves Ricky van Wolfswinkel was calm enough to take advantage of the very good pass from Boulahrouz and buried the first. Goals are sometimes the solution for any team's problems and it was after that goal that we started playing a little bit more like we should. The second goal came naturally and we could have still added one or two more.

Carrillo is looking good and so is Danijel Pranjic on his first official match for us, clearly wanting to show that he is not a bench warmer.

GOOOOOOOLOOO!! ELIAS!

He stole the ball in midfield and only stopped when he made sure to finish off for the manita. 5-0 at 64'

Double substitution for us:

Carrillo and Adrien replaced by Jeffrén and André Martins at 65'.

Fantastic save by Ronnow after a Rojo flying header, just like one week ago.

This keeper really doesn't want Rojo to score. :D

Another super save by Ronnow this time denying the 6th to Capel. Graet keeper on the making here.

An easy game, as it should always be when a club like Sporting faces this type of opponents. We didn't show any dramatic improvement in the construction of our game in midfield but the small detail of actually scoring one of the many chances created already at minute 7 made all the difference.

Great game by Carrillo and Gelson. Ricky van Wolfswinkel, Cédric and Pranjic were also very well.

We are once again the Group Stage of Europa League, a competition where we reached the semi finals last season. The draw will be tomorrow in Monaco at 13:00 CET.

Glad we won but against clueless opposition like this hard to tell whether it was a improvement from us or they were just terrible

Scoring an early goal really helped
