eircom League Cup - Shamrock Rvrs V Longford Tn

It may be the quarter-finals of the eircom League Cup, but a place in the semi-finals will not make Longford Town and Shamrock Rovers risk injuries to some of their key players tonight.

The sides clash at Tolka Park and both Martin Lawlor and Damien Richardson maintain that they will ring the changes for the clash.

Both sides have their priorities, and this competition clearly isn't at the top of their list. Rovers have League and FAI Cup hopes while Longford want to maintain their Premier Division status. They meet in the Premier Division on Saturday, so neither manager will want to give anything away.

Longford aren't willing to risk Alan Reynolds, who has a dead leg, and Paul McNally, who has hamstring problems - so that means Stephen Kelly could be in line for another start, this time alongside Keith O'Connor at the heart of the Town defence.

Stuart Byrne may also be rested as he attempts to put a groin strain behind him. The Hoops, meanwhile, have indicated that they will give some squad members a run out - so thelikes of Marc Kenny, Gareth Cronin, Tommy Dunne and Tony Cousins could start.

Stephen Grant is unlikely to play as he recovers from a back strain.
