It has been revealed that Dutch
midfield maestro Edgar Davids
recently underwent an operation
on his shin, relating to a long-term
injury sustained during the
player's time at AC Milan.

The operation - kept secret until
now - took place in Holland on 10
July.

Davids had been experiencing
some pain relating to an earlier
operation on his shinbone during
his spell with AC Milan.

"There is no set time scale for injuries of this kind," explained
Juve chief medical officer Riccardo Agricola .

"We decided to go ahead after discussing the matter with
Davids himself. With Serie A not kicking off until October, the
unusually long break really helped us."

Davids' stitches have already been removed, and a 30-40 day
rest period is underway.

It is still too early to say when he will be back in regular
training, but Agricola is predicting a return between 10 and 20
August.
